En 2011, le BTS design d'espace de Vitry/Seine poursuit son partenariat avec le Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne, en invitant le plasticien Rémy Bosquère à animer un atelier avec la classe de première année. Le point de départ : l'exposition Let's dance au Mac/Val, qui propose une réflexion sur le sens de la commémoration.
Incitation à travailler dans les espaces de l'école, à la rencontre de lieux où ont pu se dérouler certains évènements qu'il s'agit aujourd'hui de célébrer. Il s'est passé quelque chose ? On le dit. Il y a longtemps ? Qui s'en souvient ? Mais est-on sûr que cela s'est bien passé ?
Mise en place d'actions amenant la possibilité d'un récit...
RATHER SPOOKY VITRY-SUR-SEINE, FRANCE
The Val-de-Marne département is adjacent to Paris, France. Much of it is connected to Paris via public transportation, such as buses, métros, commuter trains and tramways.
On the way to MACVAL, the département's huge and cheerful contemporary art museum, we drive through Ivry-sur-Seine into Vitry-sur-Seine. Very few little old buildings are still there in large parts, and cold, boxlike new buildings stand. A huge Asiatic community is present. Most of France is closed Sundays and so is Vitry.

Allez prendre l'air et l'art au MacVal
Projections, peintures, sculptures, photographies, performances, toutes les formes d'art contemporain sont présentes au MacVal de Vitry-sur-Seine. Collection de l'art en France depuis 1950 Ouvert sur l'extérieur et sur le parc Michel Germa jusque dans ses murs, le musée est une véritable oeuvre d'art. En résonance avec les accrochages de la collection, 3 à 4 expositions temporaires sont présentées annuellement. Faire découvrir l'art autrement c'est la volonté du MacVal et c'est pour tous les publics, même pour les enfants. Enfants comme adultes le MacVal est accessible à tous les publics, alors n'hésitez plus, allez prendre l'air et l'art au MacVal de Vitry sur seine.

CONTEMPORARY ART JUST OUTSIDE PARIS, FRANCE
The first Sunday of every month in France is a heritage day, and a lot of things you normally have to pay to get into are free of charge. Please note, nearly ALL of the museums run by the City of Paris 'Ville de Paris) are ALWAYS free -- and there are LOTS of them. I have quite a few clips up of some on this channel and my other, CUTECATFAITH, as well as on Dailymotion under LisaFalour.
Most of the attractions in Paris charge quite a bit to get in. Once you go just beyond the city limits, prices are about half, if not less, and thanks to the ever-expanding and improving bus, mètro and tramway system (always buy a ten-pack -- carnet -- of tickets for a huge savings) getting there is super easy. Don't be lazy -- you'll miss a lot just by staying in central Paris, wonderful as it is!
Macval is the Musée d'art contemporain du Val-de-Marne, and is at Place de la libération, 94404 Vitry-sur-Seine. macval.fr Is is normally about five euros to get in, there's a garden, a restaurant and a big library/médiathèque. Children are welcome here and it's accessible. The surrounding area is strange-looking -- full of huge modern buildings and lots of sky -- there are many Asiatic businesses and people around this museum, I noticed. We saw a permanent collection and a hilarious temporary show -- it was really quirky and interactive. Here you see a large room with a piece about memories, and how they connect, as though by an invisible thread ...
A new tramway runs right by here. Val-de-Marne is the name of one of the départements in the Greater Paris region (Ile-de-France) and refers to the River Marne.

This work of contemporary art is by Kader Attia and is in a big, dark room in the Musée de l'art contemporain du Val-de-Marne (MACVAL) in Vitry-sur-Seine, right outside Paris, France.
I couldn't tell what I was seeing, at first, but I started to remember seeing tall buildings in New York City at night; apparently, this is the sort of thing the artist had in mind, when s/he put shiny squares on a bunch of refrigerators. It brought back a lot of memories, and gave me a rather peaceful feeling. A city asleep ...
The first Sunday of every month is heritage day in France, and many cultural attractions which normally charge admission are free of charge then. As soon as you get out of central Paris into one of its many surrounding départements, such as Val-de-Marne in Greater Paris (Ile-de-France), many prices for things such as museums cost much, much less. MACVAL, at Place de la libération in Vitry-sur-Seine (it's easy to get to via public transportation -- a new tramway lets you off right here!) is usually only five euros to get in -- about half, at least, what you might pay at a Paris museum. This day, it was free -- better still!
I found the area around this new museum very strange. There was a huge sky, and enormous, modern avenues, lined with anonymous tall buildings, many of them apartment towers. I noticed quite a few Asiatic people and businesses. The spaceage, somewhat sterile feeling to the place was not unpleasant, however. The museum is child-friendly and accessible, there's a big garden, a restaurant, and a médiathèque with a theatre. We saw both the permanent collection and a temporary show. If you like contemporary art and are going to be around Paris, this is for you.

This is my favorite work in the permanent collection of the Musée de l'art contemporain du Val-de-Marne in Vitry-sur-Seine, France. macval.fr
It is gouache on paper and is recent. I like it because for me, it's the Paris I've known for years -- a mixture of old and new buildings, lots of grim and muddy colors under grey skies, and not particularly romantic or beautiful; nonetheless, I've found a lot of happiness living here.
Gouache is one of the most difficult paints to master. It is water-based and has to be mixed carefully, neither too thickly nor too thinly. If too thick, it will streak and flake off the surface, and if too thin, you might as well just use watercolors.
