A walk in the treetop hiking trail in the MacRitchie reservoir, Singapore.
It was a perfect day for a walk in Singapore, it was a warm day so I got my gear and went to the treetop hiking trail to make a video and take some picture.
the walk is about 11km and it takes about 4 to 5 hours depending how fast you go.

Singapore MacRitchie Nature Preserve Trails
Get to know the runner behind the camera:
The MacRitchie Reservoir is the oldest reservoir in Singapore and lies in the north-central part of the country. This virtual run will take you on a 6.5 mile (10.6km) trail around the circumference of the reservoir. The run will start at the main access point to park, where you’ll proceed to see the reservoir on your left-hand side. Out on the water you’ll see rowing teams practicing their skills and racing other boats. At about 2:50 into the run you’ll get a brief glimpse of a monitor lizard walking along the bottom right side of the path. Right after seeing the lizard you’ll make a turn and head into the nature trail where rocky terrain, rolling hills, and mostly shaded jungle forest await. You’ll see hikers, a few runners, and you’ll even come across a handful of monkeys along the path. After running through the dense jungle for the first half of the run, the second half of the run is mostly along the reservoir, much of it on a boardwalk. You’ll pass by the Singapore Island Country Club, a place where membership fees cost upwards of $150,000 annually. The run finishes right where you started, at the main entry point to the park and in front of the Mushroom Café. Enjoy this hour long run on one of the most popular nature trails in Singapore!

In this run I meet up with my friend Katannya at the MacRitchie Reservoir to get in an awesome little 6.5 mile trail run around the reservoir. We see monkeys, a monitor lizard, and some beautiful views along the route. We also reminisce about the time Katannya beat me at a race in Cambodia and we rediscover that we have a mutual friend from the USA. Come along and enjoy the run at MacRitchie reservoir in Singapore!

Trekking from Bukit Timah Nature reserve to Macritchie Reservoir Singapore
with 3 other friends of mine trekking in total of 13.8 km. This is my 4th time trekking at the said location but this time round, minor setback. Need to take an alternative route instead of my normal route which is Golf link. Check out the video to see more.

MacRitchie Reservoir is Singapore's oldest reservoir. The reservoir was completed in 1868 by impounding water from an earth embankment, and was then known as the Impounding Reservoir or Thomson Reservoir.
Before the early 19th century, most of the Singapore main island was covered by primary forest. Soon after the British established a settlement in Singapore in 1819 and commercial activity took root, there was a demand for fresh water. However, it was decades before the settlement's first fresh water supply was established.
Between 1820 and 1870, a substantial portion of the virgin forest was cleared to assist Singapore in becoming an important trading post. Prior to this, Chinese planters had also worked the forested land for timber and the cultivation of crops like gambier, pepper and rubber [rubber was not planted commercially in Singapore before the 20th century]. By 1886, only 10% of the original forest cover remained.
In 1823, British Resident John Crawfurd proposed the building of a reservoir and waterworks, setting aside $1,000 for these plans but nothing came of them. Another plan that ended up in smoke was the idea to tap the headwaters of Singapore Creek.
Finally, in 1857, Straits Chinese merchant Tan Kim Seng donated $13,000 for the improvement of the town's waterworks but delays, poor planning and use of the wrong building materials ate into the budget. New plans were drawn up for an impounding reservoir in Thomson. Tan's money was insufficient – the cost of the new reservoir was $100,000 – but colonial headquarters in Calcutta refused to make up the rest of the cost. When Tan died in 1864, the reservoir was no nearer completion. More information, visit

After a fun night, i woke up early to clear my head by going on a hike; the best way to do that. I chose the MacRitchie Trails in Singapore to explore for most of the day. While there, i did the canopy bridge, dodged some bag snatching monkeys and walked in the rain a bit. After the hike, because Singapore is so small, i decided to simply walk back through the center of town on the return to my hotel. Coming back, i explored some of the unique architecture of the city and paid my respects at the Buddha Tooth Temple. A rocking day; what walkabout is all about.

In this video, I went hiking with siang at MacRitchie Reservoir Treetop walk~
Due to our limited strength and energy, we managed to survive by taking the shortest route up (started from Flame tree park bus) stop)!
Had lots of fun while hiking up but there wasn't any spectacular views hahahahaha, maybe because of the route we took.. haha.
