My Daily J.F. Oberlin University Tour
I am studying in Japan for one semester at JFOU (桜美林大学)! This video shows where I go on an average day.
I live in Fuchinobe International House 1, near Fuchinobe Station.
The places I go for classes on a weekly/daily basis are:
-Planet Fuchinobe Campus (PFC), a building next to Fuchinobe Station
-Gakujikan (at the main campus in Machida)
-Meimeikan (also at main campus)
-Sometimes I go to the library, but I did not include that in this video.
Fun fact: JFOU’s Machida campus is very close to the edge of Tokyo. So while I live in Fuchinobe, which is in Kanagawa Prefecture, I have most of my classes within the border of Tokyo.
SOUTH KOREA: JAPANESE AND SOUTH KOREAN LEADERS MEETING PREVIEW

The leaders of Japan and South Korea meet this weekend hoping to accomplish what their countries have not been able to do for decades - forge new, improved relations.
Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto and President Kim Young-sam are meeting on the South Korean resort island of Cheju to discuss a variety of issues, including North Korea.
But it wasn't politics that made the summit possible - it was soccer.
The impetus for the meeting was provided by the two nations' selection as joint hosts of the 2002 World Cup after a hot two-year bidding battle.
This is the only place in South Korea where Japanese films are shown legally and for free.
The government made Japanese movies and music illegal in an effort to keep Japanese culture at bay.
The Asian neighbours share a bitter past which has developed into a love-hate relationship.
Japan colonised the Korean peninsula in 1910.
The following 35 years - until the end of World War Two - the South Koreans were subjected to a particularly hard regime.
Its culture and language were harshly suppressed.
Many Koreans still remember those times and have passed on their attitudes to the younger generations.
Efforts to improve the relationship have been slow.
The Public Information and Cultural Centre - operated by the Japanese embassy - was established in 1971 to promote understanding and mutual cultural exchanges.
Koreans can visit and catch a Japanese movie or sit and read in its spacious library.
The more enthusiastic can even learn Japanese at the centre.
Machida Mitsugu is the Minister of Public Information at the Japanese embassy and also heads the Cultural Centre.
He has been living in Seoul for 20 years.
He believes the South Koreans are more than capable of choosing the right cultural influences and not risk cultural invasion.

I personally think that Korea should open its culture because there are lots of good music and films in Japan. It's good for both Korea and Japan But at the same time, as for the things that the Koreans don't want to accept, we should not force upon them.

Ironically, the Koreans have embraced anything that is Japanese - despite laws that ban Japanese movies, music and some publications.
Comic stores such as this one have shelves of illegally translated Japanese comic books - and they're proving very popular.
And the question remains whether South Korea will be able to keep Japanese culture at bay for much longer.
Especially since the announcement that the two countries are to co-host the World Cup football tournament in 2002.
Both Japanese and South Korean officials hope that the World Cup will help develop real friendship, which has been elusive between the two historical rivals.
But football won't be the only issue on the summit agenda.
The leaders will also discuss the thorny subject of compensation for comfort women.
South Koreans resent what they perceive as Japan's unwillingness to repent for its past.
In particular, Tokyo's refusal to fully apologise and pay reparations to survivors among some 200-thousand Korean women forced to serve as sexual slaves to Japanese soldiers during World War II has continually undercut efforts for better ties.
73-year old Shim Mi-ja still remembers being taken away by Japanese police in her hometown when she was only 15.
Her crime was that she had sewn a different flower in place of the Sakura onto a Japanese flag at school.
She was raped by the police and then turned over to the military.
She does not want unofficial compensation from Japan.

This film shows members of the 27th Chasseurs Alpins (English: Alpine Hunters), the mountain infantry of the French Army, performing a baton four faces drill.
4 faces Drills are equivalent to a Japanese martial Kata or a Chinese martial form.
The drill being shown relates to this manual,
which was written in 1929, some 32 years after the baton drill was filmed.
*This copy of the film is a “cam”, which is why it is of such low quality. It is presented as interim copy until a better copy comes along. I have placed 2 still images from the film at the start of the film, to show the actual correct lighting for the film.
