Machu Picchu Tour & Travel Guide
If you want to visit Machu Picchu, make the most of your time there by following the tips in this travel guide. I'll show you how to have the best experience possible, with helpful tips like where to catch the bus in Aguas Calientes, what trails you can hike for free, where to get the best pictures, and of course, I'll give you a full tour of Machu Picchu and its incredible ruins and terraces.
If you want to know how to get to Machu Picchu from Cusco, you should watch my previous video:
Here are some time stamps:

Hike Machu Picchu or take the bus?
If you want to hike Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes, you're more than welcome to do it, but I don't recommend it. There are enough stairs within Machu Picchu that you don't need to add a 90-minute hike beforehand (2km to the trailhead from Aguas Calientes, and then 1.75km straight up the mountain).
Machu Picchu Trails
Besides exploring Machu Picchu's ruins and terraces, there are four trails that branch out and give you incredible views of everything. Two of those trails are free, two require a ticket and access is limited to 400 people per day:
Machu Picchu Mountain and Wayna Picchu Mountain: $15 USD each, buy your tickets way in advance. You have a 0% chance of getting a ticket day of. Machu Picchu is the big mountain just to the south of the ruins and Wayna Picchu is just to the north. Wayna Picchu is the jagged rock in the background of every instagram picture you've ever seen. It's steep and crazy. Machu Picchu mountain is more of a long hike. Not too bad. Both give exceptional views of Machu Picchu and the mountains and valleys around it.
Sun Gate Trail: Do this one first, before you even explore Machu Picchu. It'll save you from having to backtrack. You'll see at 11:40 in the video, keep going up the Inca Trail past the steps to the guardhouse. It'll take at least an hour total. Plan on 90 minutes if you don't hike fast or if you want to spend more time at the Sun Gate. This is especially cool because you literally hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
Inca Bridge Trail: This is an easy trail but super scary if you're afraid of heights. The trailhead starts near the base of Machu Picchu Mountain. Plan on 30-45 minutes.
Machu Picchu Tour
Exploring Machu Picchu ruins is pretty straightforward since they make you follow the path. If you book a guide, have them meet you at the guardhouse instead of at the entrance. That way you can hike the two free trails first and then connect with your guide so you can take your time and learn about everything as you explore.
Thanks for watching my little Machu Picchu travel guide! If you have any other questions about visiting Machu Picchu, feel free to ask in the comments.

TRAIN to MACHU PICCHU + Tips for AGUAS CALIENTES || PERU GUIDE
Part 2 of my Peru series.
In today's video, we take the train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes on our journey to Machu Picchu. We booked our train ride through Perurail and rode the Vistadome, awing at the beautiful valley view.
Aguas Calientes is a small town below Machu Picchu and is the pitstop for any traveler going to the ancient city. We spent the day exploring the quaint town, walking down the cobblestone streets and eating exotic peruvian dishes (guinea pig, alpaca).

Goodbye Machu Picchu! Tour Aguas Calientes and train to Cusco ???? - Machu Picchu, Peru????????
There's plenty of restaurants, places to stay, and small shops to visit on your way out of Machu Picchu. The Earth Unraveled gang wanders through the small town of Aguas Calientes Peru, located at the base of Machu Picchu mountain.
A leaky train makes for a wet ride traveling from Aguas Calientes to Cusco. Care to try some of the local snacks? Just try not to eat the paper with it.

2:18 - Don't eat the paper on the tart...too late
Episode 44
Coming back from Machu Picchu everyone was exhausted, yet cheerful heading back to the hostel as we had all just experienced one of the greatest moments of our lives.
0:27 Aguas Calientes is small town at the bottom of the valley of Machu Picchu. It is featured by a train rail and a river that run through the town. For most people like ourselves, it is the launching point if you want to visit this spectacle of the world.
1:51 As one journey ends, another begins as we grab the next train to heading back to Cusco but this was no ordinary train ride. Just before we started moving, water began to leak down on Mike's seat forcing him to use his jacket to stay dry. We alerted them to the problem and the proceed to use masking tape and a paper towel to cover it up which really did not work.
2:18 Some of the guys grab a pop tart and Mike ( left ) bites right into it to to discover there is paper on the tart. Thinking that was funny, Mikey ( right ) sitting next to him didn't believe it and he proceeded to bite into the paper as well...lol
Our adventure continues back to Cusco as we say goodbye to Machu Picchu, an incredible destination and arguably the most heavenly place on earth.

Aguas Calientes Peru what's it like
Here is another really informative Peru video:
Aguas Calientes is a town in the Urubamba River Valley, in southeast Peru. It’s known for its thermal baths and as a gateway to the nearby Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. The town center is full of eateries and shops, anchored by the central Mercado Artesanal, a craft market. Northwest, along the river, are Los Jardines de Mandor gardens with orchids and birds. The nearby Butterfly House is a local conservation project.

How to Travel Machu Picchu on a Budget | #21 Travel Guide, Peru
Our first video after our big data loss but we promised to keep going and to do even better videos.
This video is all about travelling Machu Picchu. Hostels in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu village) are fairly low priced. We paid 10$ per person in a triple room including a basic breakfast, which you can also have as packed breakfast for an early start.
Restaurants are also ok priced, but what makes it expensive is the entrance and the transport. We paid 47$ for the entrance at the office in Aguas Calientes itself and for the transport there are basically three ways to do it:
1st - The budget option:
Get a bus from Cusco to Hidroelectrica and walk the two hours to Aguas Calientes along the train tracks. With some negotiation skills you can get a return ticket for the bus for about 20$. This is the cheapest option but also the longest, most uncomfortable and scariest one. The bus ride takes about seven hours and five of those you ride on a curvy mountain road without rails.
2nd - The comfortable option:
Taking the train is what most tourists do. There are two operators, Peru Rail and Inca Rail. We took Inca Rail on our way back and the train is well maintained, the ride super comfortable and fast. Coming from Cusco you take a bus to Ollantaytambo which takes about 1.5h and from there the train to Aguas Calientes which takes another 1.5h. This is the most comfortable and fastest option but also the most expensive one. It will cost you something in between 120$ and 160$.
3rd – The smart option:
This option probably only works in low season. After our scary bus ride, we gave it a try and asked at the train counter in Aguas Calientes for the cheapest ticket. And because it was one day before and the train was half empty, we received it for 44$. This option seems to be the smartest to us but you should probably not try it in high season, as the trains could be fully booked.
And yes, travelling Machu Picchu is definitely worth it. Even tough there is a strange rule you have to be aware of and which we will explain to you in our video.
After returning from Machu Picchu we went straight into the jungle of Peru. Therefore, subscribe to our channel so you won’t miss our adventures there. And explore our other channels:

Scenic PeruRail Train Ride to Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes)
We took a very scenic PeruRail train ride to Machu Picchu from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, which is the town closest to Machu Picchu. During the ride, we traveled over the rivers and through the foothills of the beautiful Andes mountains. On the way back, we saw a fashion show in our train car, along with a performance by a person dressed in a very strange costume.

Machu Picchu Town - Aguas Calientes , Peru
Visit to check out great information about mysterious and fantastic places on earth. Aguas Calientes (Meaning 'Hot Springs' in spanish) is the closest access point to Machu Picchu. It is about an hour and a half walking distance to the historical site and has been destroyed a few times by floods, but rebuilt. It is a completely pedestrian town, ie., no cars, taxis, or other motor vehicles are allowed here. The only travel mechanisms are buses, trains and helicopters. In the video, you can see the flowing Urubamba (Vilcanota) River, friendly street dogs and children playing on railway tracks. For more information, go to Follow Me on:
