Mackay Regional Council - Mackay City Centre Public Realm
The Mackay City Centre is the centre serving a rapidly growing, regional population of over 170,000. To ensure our region, which contributes significantly to Queensland's economic success, has access to the services and facilities of a modern CBD, council seeks public domain enhancements for the Mackay City Centre.
Improving the public places and streetscapes within our Mackay City Centre offers our community the benefits of a modern CBD, ensuring the physical environment keeps pace with business activity, community needs and aspirations.
The draft concept plan suggests a number of 'ready-to-go' catalyst projects as the initial building blocks to achieving the City Centre vision.
The catalyst projects cover the City Core, interactive signage, active facades and urban street typologies; Old Town Hall and a Civic Precinct revamp to offer a new urban parkland for the community.
¬¬These projects combine to ensure that Mackay moves towards an active, liveable, accessible, culturally vibrant and attractive City Centre.
A key role for this project is to attract funding for public realm improvements.
The concept plan is available on the Mackay City Centre website (mackaycitycentre.com.au)
