MACOCHA ABYSS & PERNSTEJN CASTLE [Moravia, Czech Republic]
On the last day of our Czech road trip (and my mom’s visit) we stopped at a few more attractions on our way back to Prague, from Brno. First stop was the Macocha Abyss as well as the Punka Caves tour and boat ride. We then went to two more Bohemian Castles: Pernstejn Castle and a quick stop by Cesky Sternback Castle. After making it back to Prague we went out for one last dinner and walk around the city before my mom headed back to Canada.

Macocha Abyss - Moravian Karst, Czech Republic

Czech Republic - Moravský Kras
The Moravian Karst (Czech: Moravský kras) is a karst landscape and protected nature reserve to the north of Brno in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, located near the town of Blansko. It encompasses a number of notable geological features, including roughly 1100 caverns and gorges and covers an area of roughly 92 km². Currently, four of the cave systems (Punkva Caves, Balcarka Cave, Kateřinská Cave, and Sloupsko-šošůvské Cave) are open for public tours and exploration.
This region is also home to one of the most important single geological features in the Czech Republic, the Macocha Abyss, a gorge 138 m deep, which was formed when the ceiling of an underground cave chamber collapsed. Macocha Abyss is also the place where the Punkva River begins to run underground through the Punkvení cave system, and two small pools of water are visible at the surface.

Moravian Karst is one of the most important karst area of Central Europe. In the area of Moravian Karst, there are more than 1100 caverns and gorges. But only 4 caves of the all number are open to public. There are Punkvevní jeskyně (Punkva Caves) with their underground river -- during the cruise you can see there the bottom of the famous Macocha Abyss. Another cave is Kateřinská jeskyně (Catherine's Cave) with its unique limestone columns. The Balcarka Cave is full of colorful stalactitic decoration. Sloupsko-šošůvské jeskyně (Sloup-Šošůvka Caves) are made by huge corridors and underground gorges.

We go to Blansko (Czech) to visit Moravian Karst Reservation, so here is a lettle video of our trip. Hope u like it :)
Macocha Abyss and Punkva Cave
My folks and I, launching from Brno, check out the Macocha Abyss in the Moravian Karst region, and then go on a tour of Punkva cave, which is just awesome, and ends up climbing into boats motoring down the sub-terranean river. Stalagtites, stalactmites and so forth abound. Here is a website for more info: and by the way, check bus schedules from Blansko to Skalni Mlyn ahead of time! Service is cut for parts of the year, though you can get a taxi or walk the 8km. Website:
HIKING IN CZECH REPUBLIC
Went on a hike to Macocha Abyss in Czech Republic only to be drenched in rain and frozen to death. It was a nice hike and the abyss was cool but totally not worth getting pneumonia, i'll have to go back when the weather is nicer and see if I have a better appreciation for it.

Brno | Macocha Abyss, Freedom Square, Spilberk Castle and a clock that looks like a dick
Once again, the German coach company Flixbus had a promotion, so I went for 1 euro to visit the city of Brno in southern Czechia, in the Moravia region.
We'll see the famous astronomical clock, that resembles a penis, the Macocha Abyss, winter forest, the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Paul, Spilberk Castle.
Summer in Brno: Exploring the Moravian Karst
SET FOR AN ADVENTURE. Our bags are packed and we are already set to explore through one of the best-known subterranean areas of the Moravian Karst, where we'll get to travel along an underground river! The Moravian Karst is the biggest and most significant karst region in the Czech Republic. Its attractions include several subterranean areas, with the greatest interest traditionally being in the Punkva Caves, where, apart from cathedrals of stalagmites and stalactites, you can also visit the bottom of Macocha Abyss and take a boat along the subterranean Punkva River. ???? Now this seems to be a unique experience in Czech Rep! For the love of adventure, let's do this together! ????????

The Czech state, formerly known as Bohemia (Čechy), was formed in the late 9th century as a small duchy around Prague, at that time under the dominance of the powerful Great Moravian Empire. After the fall of the Empire in 907, the centre of power was transferred from Moravia to Bohemia, under the Přemyslids.
