Macuti Lighthouse and Shipwreck

Beira, Mozambique -- 1997 Part 4

Lunch time. The famous Estoril Hotel (now a squat) and the wreck! Except this is a 'new' one. They park them there as a breakwater and the locals use it as a toilet. Also the lighthouse. Amazingly, after all these years there are a few scraps of the wreck Rhodies remember, just in front of the new model. Also street kids doing a spontaneous dance.

back in control, i find myself among the local fishermen launching their canoes against the incoming waves ...
and while the daylight is fading out i continue walking along the beach up to the old shipwreck - baptized macuti
