The Museum stands in the heart of Silverton - one of the hottest towns in Australia. It is also where Mad Max movie was filmed. A British man's obsession with the film saw him move half way across the world to set up a museum in the Australian outback. Adrian Bennett and family packed their bags in Bradford, in 2009, and headed for the village of Silverton in the west of New South Wales. George Miller's original Mad Max was filmed around the outskirts of Melbourne and the country towns of Victoria.
I set out to do what many Australians have done before me and visit as many the the locations as possible.
It turned out to be a long drive.
Mad Max was released in 1979 and has gone on to be a classic Australian film.

In the little town of Silverton, on the edge of the Australian Outback, is the Mad Max Museum, near the locations used for filming the first two films in the series. The Museum houses an incredible collection of memorabilia ranging from crew items, to props, to costumes, to vehicles used in the film. In some cases, the relics are replicas as the originals were destroyed or are in private hands elsewhere (the most notable being the Last of the V8 Interceptors which now lives in a museum in Miami, Florida), but this is not something to be missed should you find yourself even in the same ocean as the continent of Australia.

We meet the new publicans who have a strong connection to this stunning outback town.
On the topic of films - we take a look at the brand new Mad Max Museum -- which houses a very impressive collection of cars, memorabilia, photos and items collected and inspired from the Mad Max Movies. Briton Adrian Bennett moved his family from Yorkshire to the Outback to open a museum dedicated to this classic Australian Post-apocalyptic film and has just opened the museums doors to the public.
