Scenic Stops: Mad River & NKP Railroad Society Museum S2
The Mad River & NKP Society Museum was featured in season two of Scenic Stops, an original program on WBGU-TV in Bowling Green, Ohio. The society and museum, located in Bellevue, Ohio, was started built in 1976, preserves the railroad history of Bellevue, and boasts the largest rail-yard east of the Mississippi, with over 50 pieces of rolling equipment, as well as numerous exhibits, including a bell from President Lincoln's funeral train. The society is named for the two railroads which established Bellevue as a railroad community; the Mad River and Lake Erie Railway and the Nickel Plate Road. WBGU-TV would like to thank Chris Beamer, the city of Bellevue and the Mad River & NKP Railroad Society for letting us explore your scenic stop!

The Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum is embarking on a monumental campaign to bring Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive #757 to our museum site in Bellevue, Ohio.
The 757 was built in August of 1944 by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio. From 1944 to 1958, 757 hauled American’s freight in and out of the busy Nickel Plate terminal of Bellevue. It was known as a “Berkshire” type locomotive, and was the most successful and celebrated type of steam locomotive of the Nickel Plate Road. After retirement, the Nickel Plate saved the 757 for the community of Bellevue as a monument to the railroaders who worked here. Unfortunately, there was no railroad museum or display site available in Bellevue at the time. After many years of storage, the 757 was donated to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in 1966, and has been a part of their collection in Strasburg, Pennsylvania ever since.
In an exceptional display of responsible stewardship and generosity, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has agreed to allow the 757 to return to Bellevue with the intent to transfer ownership to the Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum upon removal.
This is an exciting opportunity to ultimately have a historically significant steam locomotive as part of the Mad River & NKP’s collection. Bellevue can finally receive its monument to the railroaders and the railroad (Nickel Plate Road) that developed and shaped our community. This locomotive will also be an excellent educational exhibit for our guests.
This campaign won’t be easy, nor inexpensive. It is estimated that to relocate, restore, and display this 400-ton locomotive, $250,000 will need to be raised. The Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum needs your help. With your contribution, we can BRING BACK 757.

A Busy Morning in Bellevue, Ohio, Part 1. July 1st, 2016.
Here is the link to Part Two:
Hey everyone! Here is a compilation of Norfolk Southern Railway action in Bellevue, Ohio. Bellevue is the home of Wick Moorman Yard, named after the recently retired Chairman and CEO of Norfolk Southern. This yard is the largest on the Norfolk Southern System and is the only double-hump yard on the system and on top of that, the only double-hump yard in the Eastern United States.
Bellevue is also known for its Nickel Plate Road heritage, as the NKP mainline and the line up to Toledo cross here. The former Norfolk and Western line from Columbus up to Sandusky also passes through here and is the busiest line of the three converging at the Bellevue viewing platform, just east of the Mad River and NKP Railroad Museum on Monroe Street.
The former N&W line is now part of Norfolk Southern's Heartland Corridor, the former NKP mainline is now part of the Fostoria district that runs from Bellevue to Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the NKP line to Toledo is a connection route to Norfolk Southern's ex-New York Central Water Level Route at Oak Harbor, Ohio.
I hope you enjoy this video and the second video, part two.

Taking A Tour Of The B & O Railroad Museum
If Your A Railroad Fan, Taking A Tour Of The B & O Railroad Museum is a must stop while in Maryland. There is so much railroading history in this are for everyone to see.
Baltimore has a lot of history for everyone to experience, but for the railroad fans, it's the Baltimore And Ohio Railroad Museum on Pratt Street. While we were in Maryland for the holidays, this was one of our must see spots on the trip. In fact, this was the number 1 spot other than family.
There is so much to see at this location it would take several days to see and absorb everything. Both Debbie and I took many photos and videos while we were here. Like I state in the intro, there will be 2 to 3 videos to show what we saw here including several local model railroad club layouts that were on display during the holidays.
