Bangla Road is the centre of nightlife for the popular Thai holiday destination that is Phuket.
It's a great place for bar hopping, with many regular bars, beer bars, gogo bars, live music bars and nightclubs all on one street!
There are lots of touts around, but if you walk with a beer in hand or a camera then generally they leave you alone.

Introduction
Madame Sau is the newest addition to Ho Chi Minh City’s expanding throng of aerial drinkeries. That said, to define this venue as a mere ‘drinkery’ is to do it a hefty disservice. Madame Sau is an entity unto itself. It combines sophisticated mixology, inventive fusion cuisine, live entertainment, varied displays of contemporary art, and stunning panoramic city views to create a completely unique experience that delivers on all fronts.
The Bar is located a stone’s throw from district one in the relative oasis of Vinhomes Central Park, and occupies the 67th floor of the Landmark 81 tower – the current tallest building on the Southeast Asian peninsula. Upon arrival at the venue you’ll be met by an impressive tetrad of towering glass doors, which lead to the lobby of the Vinpearl Luxury Hotel. From here, elegantly dressed hostesses will greet you, and guide you through the elevator transition to your destination on the 67th floor – this is where the real Madame Sáu experience begins.
Design
As you cross the threshold, you’ll be instantaneously wowed by the simply stunning panoramic city view that befalls you. The floor to ceiling glass panels that run uninterrupted around the bar area grant an unparalleled perspective of the city. As you begin to get your bearings, you’ll be able to distinguish the flashing lights of the city’s other rooftop establishments and look down on them from your superior perch!
Looking inwardly, the décor reflects Madame Sáu’s commitment to ‘fusion’ by mixing traditional stylistic elements – such as wooden wainscoting and repetitive symmetrical patterning – with sporadic splashes of graffiti artwork, which infuse the bar with a spirited ‘street-style’ vibe, giving the whole place a certain edgy appeal. The main room is lined with a luxurious low sofa which can be booked in advance to secure a spot close to the DJ and dancefloor area. Or, for those who prefer to remain mobile, standing tables are also available closer to the bar, which can again be booked in advance to secure prime position.
Events
On the music front, the roster of resident DJs drop tunes which crescendo throughout the night, gradually elevating the energy in the room and intensifying the experience. From opening time to 9:30 a mix of tropical and deep house music takes priority, followed by a switch to future house, and then climaxing with a weave of Hip-Hop, EDM and trap to see the night through.
As a brand-new venue, Madame Sáu is already setting its own high standards. Service is impeccable, mixed drinks rival any being produced in the city, and the atmosphere created from the blending of arts is as sophisticated and sleek as the building that houses it. It’s a must-visit venue for locals and visitors to the city, and will alter your expectations of what a bar can be.

Irish tourist, 46, kicked out of bar and beaten up on street in Thailand
An Irish tourist was kicked out of a bar and left in a pool of blood after arguing with staff on the first night of his Thai holiday.
Bert O’Grady, 46, arrived last Sunday morning (December 8) in the red light 'Sin City' destination of Pattaya which is popular with Brits.
He went straight to the city's lap dancing bars but within hours had allegedly started arguing with staff at the Silver Star Agogo on Soi 7 about the appearance of their nude dancers.
Police found Bert at 3:30am this morning (December 9) sprawled on the ground without his top. The holidaymaker had several cuts on his face which he claims was caused by up to ten men attacking him.
Bert said he had been drinking inside the strip club when he complained to the brothel madam that the ''girls looked younger than your daughter''.
He was shocked that the girls were ''dancing in the nude'' and raised the complaint with staff, claiming that the women were not old enough to work there.
Bert said: ''The security guards threw me out then about ten men all jumped on me. They were kicking and punching me.''
Paramedics took Bert to hospital where he was bandaged up. Police took his details and vowed to investigate the incident.
Colonel Thanaphong Phnothi from Pattaya Police said: ''The bar was closed when officers arrived last night so we have returned there this morning.
''We will check CCTV and interview the staff from the bar to find out exactly what happened.
''This is an incident that I'm not comfortable with, as it risks the safety of tourists visiting the city and could damage the area's image.
''We will coordinate with the tourist police and collect the evidence necessary to arrest those who attacked the man. Regardless of who they are, they will be found and subjected to legal proceedings.''
Pattaya, a city on Thailand's east coast, has thousands of bars, strip clubs and massage parlours.
