Madan Mahal Fort is situated on the south-western part of the modern city of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Madan Mahal fort is situated a top hill on rocky mountains.Carved on a huge rock as base this ancient monument is a masterpiece of architecture during Gond Dynasty. It was constructed by a Gond Ruler Madan Shah and was used as a watch tower by armed forces of Rani Durgavati dynasty. The architecturally designed rooms in front of the main structure probably lodged the military troops of the rulers who stayed here. The maintenance and protection of this historical monument has been undertaken by Archaeological Survey of India. It is approximately 515 meters above the ground. A panoramic view of the Jabalpur City can be seen from its roof. If you are at Jabalpur then watching Sunrise and Sunset and capturing it into your digital memories will be of great delight.On way to Madan Mahal, one comes across the Balancing rock that rests on another rock with a very narrow nexus. This rock has survived severe earthquakes when everything around it fell.

Early Morning i decided to take a walk to this historical site, Situated atop a hill is a small but enchanting fort of the Gond rulers, The fort dates back to 11th century AD. The fort is well associated with Rani Durgavati the Gond Queen and her son Madan Singh. Rani Durgavati eventually died fighting the Moguls and is hailed as a martyr in Indian history.

The Balancing Rock is a huge stone balanced on the tip of another. It is a geological wonder on the way to the fort.

There are many myths floating about the fort of the Gonds. It is said to harbor gold bricks and Gond treasures hidden somewhere in it in accessible underground folds. An underground tunnel covering a long distance is said to be located somewhere around the precinct - a possible escape route and transportation artery of the Gonds.

If you ever visit Jabalpur make sure to visit this place. It's only a few kilometres from Madan Mahal railway station, behind Takshila Engineering College. It's a very peaceful place. The door to the fort's top opens around 9:30 AM if you want to explore the inside of the fort and view the city from the top.

History-

Situated atop a hill in Jabalpur town is a small but enchanting fort of the Rajgond rulers. It was more of a manned post on vigil for invaders now enveloped in shroud of history. The fort dates back to 11th century AD. The fort is well associated with Rani Durgavati the Gond Queen and her son Veer Narayan. Rani Durgavati eventually died fighting the Moguls and is hailed as a martyr in Indian history. She also built numerous temples and tanks scattered around Jabalpur chiefly around her Garha principality.[2]

The Rajgond rulers reigned over Jabalpur, Mandla and surrounding regions. Madan Mahal is one such fort built by them. Though not exactly an architectural marvel, the little fort is characterized by intrigue of ancient monuments in India.[3]

The structure generates an aura of awe being compact and yet fully equipped for martial encounters. The stable, war rooms, small reservoir and main pleasure chamber of the rulers offer visitors much to see and admire.[4]

The monument is situated at a height of about five hundred meters on the hill of same name. The Balancing Rock is a huge stone balanced on the tip of another. It is a geological wonder on the way to the fort.

A Surprise Special from Madan Mahal, Jabalpur| Indian Railways

Date:- 20th December 2017

A very surprise special for me. I arrived at MML in the afternoon for capturing humsafar express but I missed that, later within 10 minutes I heard horn of locomotive. And was surprised first that Train is coming on PF 3 of MML from Jabalpur.

Later I came to know that it is a special train with brand cbc rake to vaishno devi katara.

Loco was decorated at PF and then train started its journey from madan mahal and again train departed towards jabalpur.

Any mistakes can be corrected and suggestions are welcome.
