2019 Wreck Dive Funchal, Portugal
The former NRP Afonso Cerqueira (F488) was a corvette, class Baptista de Andrade, of the Portuguese Navy. The Alfonso entered the service of the navy on June 28, 1975. The operational life of the ship ended on March 11, 2015 with the lowering of the national symbols.
The ship was sunk on September 4, 2018, south of Cabo Girão, off the island of Madeira, where the former NRP Afonso Cerqueira will fulfill its final mission, creating an artificial reef and providing a habitat for numerous marine species which will be his last garrison.

Sunk just a week before my arrival in Madeira the Afonso Cerqueira is a superb wreck!
Shout out to Scuba Madeira dive centre; Bruno, Ralf, Stefan and Vit plus all the others - the friendly Scots from Edinburgh! And of course James from Leicester.

Dive Madeira Garajau
The Garajau Marine National Park dive site is approximately ten minutes boat ride from the Madeira Divepoint base in Funchal. The seabed depth varies from 14m to 27m.
The spot is known for one of the biggest coastal fish, the brown grouper. The ones at this dive site are between 40 and 50 years old. Also to be seen are Atlantic Island groupers, seabream, Turkish wrasse, cornet fish, rays and moray eels.

Me and my wife were messing about with the scuba usb camera again...on the same dive we saw a Dusky Grouper (Epinephelus Marginatus) that was about 5ft long....crazy. I'll upload that later.
