Kakadu National Park, one of the biggest Wildlife parks in the Northern Territory... Only because they don't have many! ????
In this episode we visit Jim Jim Falls, Gunlom Falls, Barramundi Gorge (Maguk), Gunlom Falls and Motor Car Falls. All of them are very different and special in their own little way.
Hiking to the top of Jim Jim Falls is a highlight, with the spectacular views of the valley below.
Sadly there was virtually no 4wding in this video and everything was very accessible to almost any high clearance vehicle. But the spectacular gorges and waterfalls made up for it!
Fun Fact: A scene of the Australian movie Crocodile Dundee was filmed at the bottom of Gunlom Falls!

The drive to Jim Jim Falls is long and bumpy, but well worth the trek! Once you've driven for around 45-60 minutes down the dirt road, the hike to the falls is a further 30-45 minutes over rocky terrain. The water in the gorge was AMAZING, freezing and breathtaking. Apparently there are freshwater crocs in there, but we didn't see any. I highly recommend the swim across to the waterfall and then climbing up and standing on the ledge. This is nature at it's finest.

El Parque Nacional Kakadu es un parque nacional del Territorio del Norte (Australia), ubicado a 171 km al este de Darwin. El nombre 'Kakadu' proviene de la lengua aborigen llamada Gagudju que era una de las lenguas que se hablaban al norte del parque a principios del siglo XX. El Gagudju ya no se habla regularmente, pero los descendientes de aquellos que la hablaban todavía habitan la región del parque. El parque forma parte del Patrimonio de la Humanidad según la Unesco. Su extensión es equivalente a la de Israel y se cree que contiene un 10% de las reservas mundiales de uranio. El parque tiene dos temporadas lluvias y sequía. Durante las lluvias (entre octubre y abril) generalmente no es posible acceder a muchas zonas del parque. Durante la temporada de sequía (entre mayo y septiembre) es cuando se puede visitar el parque. Los aborígenes de los pueblos Bininj y Mungguy dividen el año en seis temporadas:
Gunumeleng -- entre mediados de octubre y finales de diciembre, temporada de tormentas pre-monzónicas con temperaturas cálidas y tormentas eléctricas frecuentes en las tardes
Gudjewg -- entre enero y marzo, temporada del monzón con tormentas, fuertes lluvias y inundaciones; el calor y la humedad generan una explosión en la vida animal y vegetal
Banggerreng -- abril, época de violentas tormentas y fuertes vientos, si bien las inundaciones disminuyen
Yegge -- entre mayo y mediados de junio, tiempo más fresco con baja humedad, época en la que los aborígenes queman la vegetación para que crezca el pasto para el ganado
Wurrgeng -- entre mediados de junio y mediados de agosto, tiempo más frío con baja humedad, la mayoría de los arroyos se secan y las planicies inundadas en la temporada de lluvia se secan
Gurrung -entre mediados de agosto y mediados de octubre, teimpo caliente y seco los pozos (billabongs) se secan poco a poco.

Jim Jim Falls // Kakadu National Park // We see LOTS of CROC'S at Cahills Crossing AUSTRALIA (2019)
In this weeks episode we start our adventures by enjoying a sunset cruise around the Corroboree Billabong with Wetland Cruises. Here we see some really big Croc's and some spectacular Australian Birds.
Then after an overnight stay in a gravel pit we head into the world heritage listed, Kakadu National Park
First stop the information center, then straight to Cahills Crossing!!! An wow, did we see some crocs at Cahills Crossing... they were out in force!
While in Kakadu National Park we check out a number of waterfalls including; Gunlom Fall, Jim Jim Falls and Maguk. It's really hard to pick a favorite as each one is different, but all spectacular for their own features.
While in Kakdau National Park we also join in on some ranger guided walks and learn about the culture and history of the Aboriginal People.
After a few day in Kakadu we venture down to Nitmiluk National Park to explore Edith Falls and hike Katherine Gorge, both of which exceeded expectations.

Kakadu National Park Featuring Maguk and Gunlom Falls, Northern Territory, Australia
Today we checked out Maguk and Gunlom Falls in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory (NT), Australia.
This national park is 22,000 square kms and boasts the nations largest amount of saltwater crocodiles, some 175,000 in fact!
Even though we visited at the beginning of the wet season build up, the sites, waterfalls, billabongs, bird life and natural water holes were still amazing to witness.
If you haven't been, wack it on your bucket list, it's a ripper o a place to visit.
Once again we filmed all ur footage on our GoPro Silver 4, iPhone 6 and 3DR Solo Drone.
Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land
Less than three hours drive from Darwin, Kakadu National Park has a rare dual World Heritage listing for both its natural beauty and its ancient Aboriginal culture, dating back 50,000 years. It is a place of rugged escarpments, lush wetlands, savannah woodland and cascading waterfalls covering over 19,000 square kilometres making it the largest national park in Australia.
Kakadu is shaped by water, being the catchment area for the South Alligator, East Alligator, Katherine, Roper and Daly rivers. From November to May, waterfalls are at their most spectacular and the lowlands are flooded, attracting millions of migratory birds.
The diversity of nature contained within the Park is astounding and keen birdwatchers are spoilt for choice. The unique and diverse avian life in Kakadu includes jacanas, azure kingfishers, cuckoos, rufous owls, magpie geese, jabiru and more. Take a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong literally teeming with migratory birds. You may even spot a croc or two! Over one-third of Australian bird species, around one thousand different plant species and a quarter of all Australian freshwater fish species can also be found here.
A number of Aboriginal language groups still reside within the park, which is home to one of the largest concentrations of Aboriginal rock art in the world. Ubirr and Nourlangie Rock are among the most vivid and extensive examples. A must is a climb to the top of Ubirr for unbeatable 360-degree views of the surrounding floodplains.
Other spectacular, must-see natural landmarks include Jim Jim Falls, Twin Falls, Maguk (Barramundie Gorge), Jarrangbarnmiu (Koolpin Gorge) and Gunlom Falls. Why not take in the breathtaking views from a light aircraft or scenic helicopter ride.
Beyond Kakadu, Arnhem Land is made up of 91,000 square kilometres of pristine wilderness located in the middle of Australias northern coast, bordered by the Arafura Sea and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Arnhem Land is blessed with wild coastlines, deserted islands, rivers teeming with fish, rainforests, soaring escarpments and savannah woodland.
One of the last great pristine areas in the world, its small population is predominantly Aboriginal people, and the region makes for an exciting destination for travellers seeking an authentic cultural experience. Visit the remote town of Maningrida, on the north coast of Arnhem Land, famous for its indigenous art, or Gunbalanya (Oenpelli), one of the first stops east of Kakadu National Park - an Aboriginal community where indigenous artists gather at the Injalak Art and Craft Centre.
