(HD 720p) Long Beach (Mahabang Buhangin) Calaguas Islands Vinzons Camarines Norte Philippines
The pristine island of Long Beach (Mahabang Buhangin), among the Calaguas Group of Islands in Vinzons, Camarines Norte the Philippines, offers an amazing experience to its tourists from the moment they take a boat ride from mainland, to island hopping, camping, fishing and of course swimming! This undiscovered beauty rivals the world-famous Boracay in Kalibo for it's fine white-sand shoreline.

It's now famous for Mahabang Buhangin's 1.27 km powdery white sand on Tinaga Island, the biggest island in Calaguas. Some people describe it as the perfect beach and a throwback to Boracay 25 years ago.
I've been to Calaguas in 2008, when the beach was still wild and undiscovered. Backpackers and beach lovers soon found out about the island and set up tents in campsites along the beach. In 2012, the first Waling-Waling Resort was built and continues to be the only eco-resort on the island.
Here's a photo essay of the Waling-Waling Eco Resort experience...
It's best to go during the off-peak season (October to December) when you can have the entire white beach to yourself.
Mahabang Buhangin is 1.5 hours by boat from Paracale or 2 hours from Vinzons, Camarines Norte.
There's no mobile signal on the island, which adds to its off-the-grid appeal.
Waling-Waling has 14 open-air cabanas with 2 hammocks. There's a common restroom good for 4 persons.
It also has 8 kubols with a spacious 2nd-floor sitting room and can accommodate 6 persons. (Tip: get cabana #1 or #2)
The open-air living room is where you can hang out to eat and drink with your friends.
Most importantly, there is a clean private bathroom with a fresh water source and electricity provided by generator.
(Tip: Make sure to sync your toilet visits with the genset schedule--usually early in the morning and at night only)

This was my first time traveling with this agency and to be honest I wasn't really satisfied. Their price is definitely cheaper than the others but I suggest you look for better alternatives.

SOLAR DAYBREAK: TOP TRAVEL DESTINATION -- CALAGUAS, CAMARINES NORTE
Summer is here and for sure, many are already thinking of what to place in their bucket list. For the next few weeks, we'll be giving you suggestions on different places you can go to with your family or loved ones just around the country and/or around southeast asia.
Well, many have been raving about the famed island of Calaguas in Camarines Norte.
The island paradise is home to some of the most stunning beaches in the country -- with pristine white sand and crystal clear water from miles on end. Its 17 beautiful islands each stand out on their own -- but one of the most popular is the Tinaga Island. Its Mahabang Buhangin beach is a five kilometer stretch of white sand, patches of volcanic rock and turquoise blue waters. Tourists can set up camps here for overnight stays -- while others can rent nipa huts. It is fairly remote -- and with no electricity and weak signals -- one can really unwind and enjoy the serenity.
There are lots of activities to do on the island -- snorkeling, swimming, drinking fresh fruit juice and eating fresh catch -- or even just long walks on the beach and watching sunrise and sunsets.

THE BEUATY OF CALAGUAS ISLAND | PART 2
Calaguas is a group of islands in the Pacific under the jurisdiction of the town of Vinzons, Province of Camarines Norte, a merely two-hour boat ride from the mainland. It boasts of powdery white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and unspoiled natural resources, a place where you can truly relax while enjoying the pristine beauty of the place.
While there are travel/tour organizers offering the Calaguas tour, a DIY trip is possible and the cheapest way to get to the island. The experience of doing it on your own for the entire journey adds thrill and excitement to what is already an exciting adventure.
You can access Calaguas either through the Municipality of Vinson's or Paracale in Camarines Norte Province.
From Manila, you can take DLTB, Isarog Bus Lines, Penafrancia Travel and Tours, Superlines, or Philtranco bus to Daet from either Pasay or Cubao terminal. Bus fare ranges from ₱580-650 and the travel time is 8-9 hours.
From Daet, ask around for jeepneys or tricycles that travel to Vinsons.
If you prefer Paracale over Vinsons, then get off at Talobatib junction (before reaching Daet) and wait for the ordinary bus to Paracale.
If you don’t have the luxury of time, you can book a flight to Naga, and then take a van to Daet (₱190.00, 2 hours).
Accredited tourists boats await in Vinsons while some fishermen offer equally safe transfer from Paracale. Navigation time to Calaguas, however, is shorter from Paracale.
THINGS TO BRING:
- Tent, hammock, or blanket for shelter. Couples can rent a cottage with room (₱450/day) but vacancies are not guaranteed. They also offer tent accommodation only for ₱100/day, Cabanas range from 3000-4000 Pesos per group.
- Enough food and water for your entire stay in the island. If you are a group, you can ask the boatman to cook for your dinner, lunch, and breakfast (Syempre may fee hahaha)
- Charcoal and/or portable stove with enough fuel if you are planning to cook your own food
- Cooking and cutting kit
- Flashlights
- Sunblock
- Camera
- First-aid kit (Clinics and Hospitals are too far from the Island, roughly 2 hours 30mns travel time)
- Personal kit
- Garbage bag for your trash and to waterproof your stuff while navigating
NOTES, TIPS AND REMINDERS:
- Restrooms and shower rooms are available in Calaguas but the water is for sale at ₱10 to ₱20 per bucket.
- Cottages are available for rent. Regular (without room) is ₱300 while the one with a small room for two individuals costs around ₱450 per day.
- Buy all your supplies in the town prior to boarding a boat to Calaguas. There is a sari-sari store in Calaguas but it’s not guaranteed that they have the item/s you need. It’s a bit pricey too.
- Waterproof your bags and stuff while onboard the boat from Vinsons or Paracale to Calaguas.
- You can bring your hiking shoes or slippers as well if you plan to go hiking in one of their mountains
- The sea is rough sometimes, so check PAG-ASA’s gale warning bulletin before heading to your getaway.
- Someone collects ₱20/person for an environmental fee in the beach.
- No electricity nor cellular signal in Mahabang Buhangin beach premises.
Bonfire is no longer allowed.
- You can sleep on the beach (like we did on our last visit).
- You can hike to one of Tinaga Island’s hills, and then see the panoramic view of the beach.
- There is a resort on the island called Waling-waling. Rooms start at 3,500 per night.
- BE A RESPONSIBLE TRAVELER. Always remember to internalize and follow the “traveler’s creed”: Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures, and kill nothing but time.

Calaguas, also known as Calaguas Islands, is a group of islands located in the Philippine province of Camarines Norte. It includes the major islands of Tinaga Island and Guintinua Island, the minor Maculabo Island, as well as several other minor islands.
Most of the islands are under the administrative jurisdiction of Vinzons, while the minor island of Maculabo is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Paracale. Recently, the island of Tinaga where the well-known long beach called Mahabang Buhangin is located is experiencing an influx of tourists despite the absence of accommodation. Campers and backpackers visit Mahabang Buhangin to experience its powdery white sands.
