Mahamuni Paya, Mawlamyine, Myanmar-by www.AdventuresInWanderland.NET
Within the Mahamuni Paya is this beautiful jewel-box chamber, shimmering with mirrors, rubies and diamonds.
Mahamuni Paya , Hsipaw
This is probably the largest religious building in Hsipaw, although it's nowhere on the scale of the great Payas in Yangon, Mandalay or even Prome (Pyay). It is the Mahamyatmuni Paya. The Lonely Planet guidebook assured me it was one of the busiest religious sites in Hsipaw, although on the afternoon I visited I had the place more or less to myself.
There are a few Buddha images here, including one supposedly inspired by the image in Mahamuni Paya in Mandalay . It's nothing spectacular but, in a town like Hsipaw, it's worth a visit.

Apeyadana Temple Myanmar
Another short in my series of Bagan.
In Early 2015 I spent three weeks in Myanmar. No part did I fall more in love with than Bagan, and archaeological, modern day historical site. True many of the local people were relocated a mile away, but they still all benefit from the visitors that come here to see what I believe is arguably the largest collection of Temples and Pagodas in South East Asia .
Info:Apeyadana Temple is best known for its frescoes inside that depict the Brahmanism gods and divinities of the Mahayana pantheon. Unfortunately, it's quite dark inside and very hard to photograph in there. There is space inside that was meant for a number of statues, but most of those that survived have been moved to the Bagan Archaeological Museum a few miles up the road.2

Introducing Mawlamyine
In this video Tour Mandalay visit Mawlamyine, Myanmar's 4th largest city and the first colonial capital. Highlights include long forgotten colonial buildings, stunning sunsets, night markets, the Thanbyuzayat war cemetery and Kyaik Than Lan (the pagoda from which Kipling probably wrote his famous poem 'Mandalay'). The video also features a boat trip across to the magical Bilu Island - a destination renowned for its quality arts and crafts industry.

Mandalay Hill
Mandalay Hill, elevation 240 m (790 ft), lies just outside the northeast corner of the old city wall and moat of Mandalay which took its name from the hill.
Legend has it that Sanda Mokkhi the ogress who lived there, for want of something to offer the Buddha when once he visited the hill, made an offering of her own breasts! And for this extreme act of merit the Buddha prophesied that she would be reborn a great king who would built a city at the foot of the hill, and become a great supporter of Buddhism in the year 2400 of the Buddhist Era (1857 AD), the year King Mindon laid the foundations of Mandalay.
The traditional and more interesting approach is by the southern ascent guarded by a pair of gigantic Chinthe up a long flight of covered steps lined all the way on both sides by masonry seats, with numerous stops of temples and pavilions. Today you can drive up to the foot of the summit Sutaungpye (Wishing) Pagoda and take the escalator. The twin cobras shrine lies just beyond and below where pilgrims stroke the snakes and wish for good health similar to the Khmer bronze at Mahamuni Pagoda.
