Remote & Magnificent: The 14 Mile Point wilderness is located 14 miles east of Ontonagon, Michigan & about 7 miles west of the Misery River boat launch. The 49 acre site +/- (depending on lake level) has 4000 feet of Lake Superior shoreline and contains some of the last old growth forest on the lake east of the Porcupine Mountains. Huge White Pine, Hemlock, Yellow Birch, Hard Maple and other old growth species mixed with conifers and other timber make this site one if the rarest properties still available on Lake Superior. The land is nearly flat with sandstone and some sand beach. The former U.S. Government property contains the remains of the 1894 United States Lighthouse Service 14 Mile Pointe Light Station. The large red brick lighthouse structure and 50 foot attached tower still overlook Lake Superior. Bonanza Falls Ontonagon County Michigan
My final stop of the day was Bonanza Falls also known as Greenwood Falls. After having spent most of the day driving, standing in the rain or massive bugs, the blue skies and bug free environment was a nice treat at the end of the day. Bonanza Falls is an easy find being right on M-64 and a mile south of Silver City. What makes this an interesting waterfall is all of the diagonal rock creating really cool water drops. I was tired after a long day of driving and hiking so I messed up on quite a few series of shots by not turning my autofocus off during the shoot. I remembered for the next one.....

Upper O Kun de Kun Falls Ontonagon County Michigan 4k
Upper O Kun de Kun Falls, also known as Peanut Butter Falls is located on the Baltimore River 8 miles north of Bruce Crossing Michigan on Highway 45. This waterfall is a short hike upstream from the main waterfall. This is my second visit to the waterfall in the fall time and the hike was perfect due to the freshly fallen snow laying on the colorful fall leaves. The quiet forest were singing the songs of an approaching winter.

Overlooked Falls Porcupine Mountains Michigan
My next stop after Lake of the Clouds was Overlooked Falls in the Porcupine Mountains. I had always wanted to stop and see them but never had the time or the exact location, turns out they are really easy to find. Just downstream is Greenstone Falls, I'll get to them another time. The weather was doing what it had been doing over the past few days, not making up it's mind causing me more white balance problems. Although I enjoy fallen trees in my waterfalls, the twiggy branches don't work for me.
