Köszeg. Historic town centre | Hungary #12
We take to the tracks to Köszeg on the Hungarian-Austrian border. This picturesque little town is often called Hungary's jewelry box for its many pretty historic buildings. It is especially nice to dwell around Jurisics tér (Jurisics square) in the middle of the old town. Köszeg's stout castle has once held against an enormous army of invading Ottomans.

Morning commute in Budapest
Morning commute in Budapest
This is my usual commute to work. I cover 25 km, one way, from my flat in central Budapest to my work place in Szentendre. Szentendre is a town north of Budapest sitting by the Danube.
I pass through a lot of urban and non urban landscapes. I start at 0:02 by crossing the city center. You'll see a lot of narrow streets, pedestrianized squares and monumental buildings.
A second stage starts at 13:00 when I half cross the river into an island that is also a city park. I cross the park from one end (14:26) to the other (20:20) exiting on a second bridge that takes me to the other bank (from Pest to Buda).
That second bridge at 21:10 almost acts like a highway taking cars from the Buda suburbs into the direction of downtown in Pest. Once off the bridge I am in a mostly high rise residential area built after world war 2 (23:40), with some big-box stores (30:50), a tech park (32:08), some roman ruins and a river bank devoted to summer frolicking (not visible in this video). The high rise area is adjacent to one of family houses (37:10) a better off suburb. Note that here I rode through the main road instead of the small and nicer access streets inside the neighborhood to save some time.
After that, at 44:17, I reach the city limits where the high rise residential blocks return and effectively draw the city border. Over that, at 50:20, I am cycling in rural space, until entering Szentendre, parallel to the main road that connects both cities.
Once in Szentendre (1:03:42) the quality of the infrastructure declines. It is a suburb with cronic lack of funds. A lot of road chatter, bumps and holes and it is forbidden to ride your bike along the main road that crosses the city. Bicycles are forced to use the pavement. A particularly bad example of how bad cycling infrastructure is in Szentendre is the cycle and pedestrian cross under the main access road at 1:04:13.
My commute ends in the Szentendre old town center overlooking the Danube at 1:12:35.

72 hours in BUDAPEST: what to do?????????
VLOG about the capital city of Hungary: Budapest.
We’ve spent 72 hours in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. These are our tips. We were here in the summer of 2018:
Recommendations:
For Sale Pub - try the local Goulash!
Rudas Thermal Bath - with a rooftop pool! Not that touristic, more locals. Tip: go in the morning and try the Contrast Bath.
The Dohány Street Synagogue also known as the Great Synagogue - if you want to go inside: check before you go if it's open for a visit.
Gellért Hill - amazing view. (Nice place for Wedding Photography)
Parliament of Budapest - if you go when the sun is going down, you'll see all the lights going on!
Cirkusz Budapest - great place for breakfast. Try the Turkish Eggs. Maybe you have to wait, but it's worth it.
Vörösmarty tér - Square with history. Go to Café Gerbeaud for a coffee and cake in style (expensive).
The Hungarian State Opera House
St. Stephen's Basilica - nice view and nice square.

1. Heroes' square

At the centre of the square facing west is a statue of poet Mihály Vörösmarty. Behind the monument is a fenced park and a fountain flanked by stone lions. At the north end of the square is the Café Gerbeaud and stairs to the southern terminus of the Budapest Metro's venerable yellow line (M1). The square is also a business area, including offices for Ibusz and Aeroflot. The British Embassy is located at the square.
