Locals remember the fateful day of Australia's first and only QANTAS crash here on Tambo's own claypan...
Tambo has a proud history that can be seen throughout our heritage precinct. The court house, post office and telegraph station are great places to experience our history first hand.
Well what do you reckon??? Not bad for a little town that been around for 150 years'.
Well, we've got to leave you now. It's all up to you! Now it's your turn to make the journey and enjoy what we enjoy everyday - our unique region of Blackall and Tambo... See you soon!

Big Loads: Hi Haul Kenworth K104s and Concrete Bridge Beams. Part 1 Fri 01/06/12
Two Hi Haul Kenworth K104's haul the first of 4 bridge beams for the night destined for Dingley, in Melbournes South Eastern Suburbs through the intersection of High and Oak Streets in Golden Square ( Bendigo ). The intersection is closed off by Vic Roads to allow the oversize loads to turn into the wrong lanes to get around the intersection. This scene was filmed at 21 25. The other two were supposed to follow shortly after, but permission has to be given by V/Line to cross over the Oak St level crossing, and a train shunting in Bendigo yard meant they wouldn't allow them out until it was gone, an almost 89 min hold up.
