Portland Maine Cruise Port, City Tour & Harbor Cruise Highlights (4K)
We visited beautiful Portland Maine via cruise ship and spent a fun day there. We started at the Portland Maine Cruise Terminal on Ocean Gateway pier. From there we took a free trolley ride into Old Port as we had booked tours with Portland Discovery online in advance. It looked like you could buy the tickets right outside the cruise terminal as well. The tour guide who drove the trolley provided some interesting tidbits & informative tips about the city before dropping us off at Long Wharf.
From there we took a one hour 45 minute trolley tour of Portland, seeing various highlights of the city, including a stop at the famous Portland Head Lighthouse at Fort Allen Park.
We then ate lunch at Portland Lobster Co (lobster roll & chowder), and tried some delicious Maine potato donuts by Holy Donuts.
After that we went on an hour long Lighthouse Lover's Harbor Cruise. There we saw the various attractions such as the Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse, Ram Ledge Lighthouse and another scenic visit of the Portland Head Lighthouse.
Afterwards to walked to Duckfat and tried some Poutine (a bit too salty but pretty good), before walking back to the cruise port to return to our ship, the Celebrity Summit.
This was from our late June 2019 Bermuda & New England cruise on the Summit. Hope you get some good ideas on where to visit in Portland Maine if you have just one day, and please feel free to ask questions & we'd be happy to reply!

The BEST Food & Beer in PORTLAND, Maine
We spent a day in Portland, Maine making our way to restaurants, bars and craft breweries to find the best that the city has to offer!
With its heady mixture of artistic and outdoor adventures, our region is stylish and sophisticated, yet remains genuine and unpretentious, a place where grey flannel and plaid flannel coexist companionably. And underlying the latest tech, fashion, and culinary scene is a deep sense of continuity. We invite you to experience the character of a region that blends the present with a very special past.

Duckfat portland Maine:
Opened in 2005 by Nancy Pugh and Rob Evans, Duckfat is proud to be independently and locally owned. Chef Rob was named “Best Chef Northeast” by the James Beard Foundation in 2009, Duckfat is also a three time Food Network Chopped Champion restaurant. Duckfat strives to keep its focus on great homemade food made from the best quality ingredients, a vision Rob and Nancy share with their dedicated team.
Duckfat has become a Portland staple for hanging out and grabbing great food and drink. We plan on keeping it that way. Thank you for visiting our web site and for your support. We look forward to seeing you soon
Rising Tide Beer Company:
Rising Tide Brewing Company is a family-owned craft brewery located in Portland, Maine. We specialize in artisanal, hand-crafted ales brewed in small batches. Our beers are available in cans and on draft in our tasting room in Portland's East Bayside neighborhood and at select locations in Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
Liquid Riot:
The Liquid Riot Bottling Company was established on the waterfront in Portland’s Old Port, just blocks from City Hall and the location of the Portland Rum Riot, in homage to those that fought for their beverage of choice. As Maine’s first Brewery/Distillery/Resto-Bar, we take all the passion and energy of these past riots and put it into our own liquids, bottled or on tap, made fresh locally for your enjoyment.
Central Provisions:
The name Central Provisions pays homage to the original name of Dana Street and the first use of the building. Daniel Fox, who worked for the East India Trading Company, constructed a building to be used as a storehouse for provisions. This federal style brick building was erected on the corner of Fore and Central Street (now Dana Street) directly on the Wharf. The East India Trading Company’s ships would sail directly up to the building and unload their goods such as cotton, silk, indigo dye, salt, saltpeter, tea, and opium. In 1874, the East India Trade Company was dissolved. Throughout history, 414 Fore Street has served many different purposes. A wine and bitters shop named Rufus and Son’s moved into the building in 1894. They moved across the street and a barrel top and burlap bags shop moved in. After that, it was home to E. Cory who sold local blacksmiths and wood workers tools and materials.
Blue Rooster:
Hip counter serve offering creative, elevated spins on hot dogs, sandwiches & tater tots. Great food, great value; friendly, helpful staff. Best hotdogs, falafel. All good.
Taco Escobar:
Authentic Mexican cuisine, craft beer, and exciting specialty cocktails! A fun atmosphere, casual and affordable. Taco Escovar is located in 548 Congress Street.

EXPLORING THE ISLAND - Portland, Maine
Check Out Jacob Vlog #266 - SUBSCRIBE FOR NEW VIDEOS THREE TIMES A WEEK!
Today I spend the morning exploring Long Island, Maine, just of the coast from Portland in Casco Bay. After that, I take the ferry back to Portland and venture to a tiny lighthouse called, Bug Light, that is actually on the Portland City Seal. I then get some delicious lunch at a very popular restaurant called Duck Fat. They are famous for their fries that they fry in, you guessed it, duck fat. I then head north to Maine Beer Co. to grab a tshirt for a friend and then explore the MASSIVE L.L. Bean campus. It's comprised of 4 huge stores that are all open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. After getting lost among the gigantic selection of outdoor goods, I head back to Portland to have dinner and a drink at a local brewpub called Sebago.

Casco Bay - Portland, Maine
Sailing in the Casco Bay with my family, wishing we lived near this most beautiful place. Sailing on the 88 foot Wendameen.
Shot with Nikon P7700
Edited with Sony Movie Studio Professional 12
The 88-foot schooner Wendameen, like Bagheera, was designed by the famed yacht designer John Alden. She was built in East Boothbay, Maine, and launched in 1912 when she took center stage in the golden era of fast, sleek ocean schooners.
Inactive since the 1930s, she was thoroughly restored in the late 1980s and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Wendameen is certified by the US Coast Guard to carry 48 passengers on deck and can also accommodate 14 guests for our overnight excursion
Four Things You Must Do in Portland, Maine
Lobster Rolls, Tours, and Lighthouse Views are part of the 4 things you must do when you visit Portland, Maine. Old Port is the hubbub of Portland. You will find lobster rolls in Old Port as well as several other restaurants in Portland. You are very close to the Two Lights Lighthouse as well as the Portland Head Light Lighthouse on Cape Elizabeth in Fort Williams Park. I will share the best walking tours; I'll tell you exactly where to see the best views of Casco Bay in Portland, Maine. I cannot wait to see Portland, Maine for more than a day.
My mom and I visited Portland, Maine and had the best Lobster Roll at Bite Into Maine. I can highly recommend Scales for an on-the-dock nice restaurant. Make reservations!! We had Bite Into Maine's lobster roll twice in a 24 hour period.
You must drive past Munjoy hill to see the wide spanse of creation along the East Promenade at Fort Allen Park. No entrance; just drive along Congress and you will dead end there. Huge playground, easy parking, lots of parking spaces easy for RVs, and great paths for a brisk walk while taking in the awesome views of Casco Bay.
Take a tour-the one we used is Maine Foodie Tours, but they offer art tours as well. Check their dates because of winter temps. They have a happy hour tour, a lobster crawl lunch tour, a culinary tour, and 12 more! We saw many bus tours but not for taking in the local food.
Visit the lighthouses - Cape Elizabeth. There is the Portland Head Light and the Two Lights Lightouses. Both are a quick 15 minute drive from Old Port in Portland, Maine.
Getting around Old Port in Portland, Maine is easy to do because it's pedestrian friendly. There is a slight incline off of Commercial Street in Old Port. Stay in Old Port because, again, everything happens in Old Port. Leave me a message about other sites you found!

An October in Maine
To be able to immerse ourselves in the season was exactly what my heart was longing for. ???? We spent so much time hiking among the trees, wandering the little harbor towns and taking day trips through winding back roads of Maine in our @Chrysler Pacifica. ??Every time we would get in the car, Ezra would ask to open the gigantic panoramic sunroof for the view. In so many places, the orange leaves tunneled over the car and he'd sit with his face to the sky, taking it all in. These past weeks are ones I will never forget... and I am hoping we will be able to relive someday.

Driving To L.L. Bean Original Freeport, Maine 2018
L.L.Bean was founded in 1912 by its namesake, hunter and fisherman Leon Leonwood Bean in Freeport, Maine. The company began as a one-room operation selling a single product, the Maine Hunting Shoe (also known as duck boots. Bean had developed a waterproof boot, which is a combination of lightweight leather uppers and rubber bottoms, that he sold to hunters. He obtained a list of nonresident Maine hunting license holders, prepared a descriptive mail order circular, set up a shop in his brother's basement in Freeport and started a nationwide mail-order business. By 1912, he was selling the Bean Boot, or Maine Hunting Shoe, through a four-page mail-order catalog, and the boot remains a staple of the company's outdoor image. Defects in the initial design led to 90 percent of the original production run being returned: Bean made good on his money-back guarantee, corrected the design, and continued selling them.
The 220,000 sq ft (20,000 m2) L.L.Bean retail store campus in Freeport, Maine is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with more than three million visitors per year, as of 2015.
Leon L. Bean died on February 5, 1967, in Pompano Beach, Florida. He is buried in Freeport's Webster Cemetery. The company passed into the directorship of Bean's grandson, Leon Gorman, from that time until 2001, when Gorman decided to take the position of Chairman, leaving the position of CEO to Christopher McCormick, the first non-family member to assume the title. On May 19, 2013 Shawn Gorman, 47, a great-grandson of the company’s founder, was elected L.L.Bean’s chairman. The company announced a US$125,000 donation to a new scholarship fund upon Leon Gorman's death in 2015, representing about 2.5 years of tuition at his alma mater, Bowdoin College.
Stephen Smith was named CEO in November 2015, the first time in the company's 103-year history that a CEO had been hired from outside the company.
