Tinghir, auch Tinerhir genannt, ist eine Oasenstadt im Süden Marokkos in der Region Drâa-Tafilalet.
Die Stadt hat etwa 45.000 Einwohner.

Besuch eines Teppichhändlers, der uns sehr freundlich in Deutsch
über die verschiedenen Teppicharten informierte.

Weiterfahrt nach Quarzazate
Ouarzazate ist die Hauptstadt der Provinz Ouarzazate in der Region Drâa-Tafilalet im Süden Marokkos und hat etwa 75.000 Einwohner.

Moroccan Rug Demonstration in Rissani

What would a visit to Morocco be without a rug demonstration ? Maison Berbere in Rissani had unique and colorful rugs hanging from the walls, stacked along the perimeter and the group sat down and waited to become educated on the differences.

Woven, from nomad tents, what the designs incorporated into them meant (protection from the evil eye was a common element). In the meantime, Travels With Sheila racked her brain trying to remember exactly how many rugs were currently in our house. Love the colors and history! What better souvenir from a foreign country?

Moroccan Berber Capets

My good friend Mohamed Bolmssail who is Berber and lives in the high Atlas mountains of Morocco. From starting off as a muleteer as a young lad he managed to save enough to start buying & selling carpets.
After many years of hard work he now has his own shop in the village of Imlil. The shop is a cooperative where they even make their own carpets. I have been good friends with Mohamed & his wonderful family for about 15 years.

Buying a Handmade Moroccan Rug - The Touch of Sound (Urban)

He welcomed us with a kind demeanor (sound clip). He then offered us Moroccan mint tea. Mmmm, it was very good tea. We started to realize that we were in the presence of a business man, and a strong sales pitch. Luckily we had been warned by our friends in Spain about the aggressive shop owners. After finishing our tea, and politely declining his offers of beautiful rugs, we left the store. It was time to explore this historic city on our own.
