Maizuru Brick Park is located nearby a base of the Navy in the East of Maizuru (Higashi-Maizuru), Japan. Brick buildings are designated as important cultual, which were used for the storehouse more than 100 years ago.
東舞鶴は海軍の町として栄えてきました。明治時代より旧海軍の貯蔵庫として使われてきた赤レンガの建物(重文)に風情があります。有名なのは横浜の赤レンガですが、こちらもすごいです。近くの海軍記念館は、通常は休日に一般開放がありますが、当日はあいにく見学中止の日でした。

Maizuru Park in Fukuoka City
Only a 3min subway ride away from Tenjin, the city center of Fukuoka City, lays the famous Maizuru Park with the ruins of Fukuoka Castle. The ruins of Fukuoka Castle (福岡城跡 - Fukuokajōato) are located in the middle of the city in Maizuru Park, named after the castle's alias, Maizuru Castle. Nowadays only ruined walls and a few turrets remain, and the park attracts visitors with walking trails and a few lookout points. Furthermore, another must-see spot is the Korokan, which was one of the ancient guest houses for foreign diplomats in earlier Japan, about 1000 years ago. The Korokan at Maizuru Park is the only one whose original location has been identified. It is said that the house had ushered the imperial embassies and missions from China (Shilla) for about 400 years from the end of 7th century to 11th. The remains were first discovered in 1987. The museum exhibits artifacts and trading items of the time. Check out Sam's report about these two famous places!

そのときのサイン色紙が
赤れんが２号棟・舞鶴市政記念館の
裏出口付近に展示されています。

in the city of Maizuru to be exact ???? and we went ashore at 12 nn. to unwind and walk around thru the city, as we have limited time because we need to get back on the ship before are all crew onboard which is 5pm.
we walk around to sense the taste of the past and to witness the numerous historical sceneries such as group of temples and shrines.
we visited
Enryu-ji Temple- which is a very old temple erected by Gyoki during the Nara period.
Asashiro Jinja Shrine- a very old shrine, originally built to praise izanami-no-mikoto, the guardian diety of Maizuru.
Keirin-Ji Temple- infront of the main gate is the inscription Kinkushu. Kun and Shu refers to garlic and alcohol respectively, while kin means prohibited. Essentially. No alcohol or smelly things allowed.
the west area of maizuru city has been developed as a castle town of the military commander Yusai HOSOKAWA.

Looks like they are just visiting for a goodwill and friendship building port visit.
Noticed there has been an increase in foreigners in Maizuru. It must have sometime to do with that radar being built up in Mineyama, Kyoto.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2012 we made a trip to Asashiro Torii and Enryu Temple in the city of Maizuru in Kyoto Prefecture. We got rained on all day.

In todays VLOG, The day started slightly wet, with a beautiful 30 km ride to Maizuru, Ride, Ridden, Rode?, ferry tickets to Maizuru, difference between old and young in Japan, have to kill 8 hours, Japanese aircraft carrier, sim card top off, free wifi in 7-11, serendipitous coffee shop encounter I will never forget, ferry routes from Maizuru, Maizuru to Busan???, Brick Park, resisting flying over the navy ships, editing at the Ramen restaurant.

World heritage Taj Mahal is made by pet bottle, 3,500 bottles, and it is set at the front of Maizuru city hall. It is illuminated by 7, 000 white LED. It took for one month to build this Taj Mahal by 20 people who are active member of Light Art Maizuru Red Brick .

Maizuru is a town where the sea breeze and red bricks meet.
This video highlights the sights I have seen around Maizuru over the last four plus years. The video starts in August and ends in July, much like the normal JET year. I am happy to call Maizuru my Japanese hometown.
The song is My hometown 舞鶴 by Chicago Poodle. I used this song because it was created with Maizuru's image in mind.
