Eid-ul-fitr on 15th June 2018 in Sierra Leone
Ahmadi Muslims in Sierra Leone have joined Muslims all over the world in observing eid-ul-fitr on 15th June 2018. Eid ul fitar is observed at the end of the month of obligatory fasting in Ramadan prescribed to Muslims by Allah. Ahmadi’s in Sierra Leone celebrated Eid in multiple cities in the country, Bo, Kanema, Makeni, Mile 91, Lunsar, Portloko, and 24 other locations in Freetown.
At Baitul Subuh Mosque the central mosque in Freetown, hundreds of Muslims gathered in the halls, the courtyard, and the streets outside. Eid proceedings were led by Maulana Sayeed-ur-Rahman Sahib, amir and missionary in-charge Sierra Leone.
The attendance was more then 3000 people. Sierra Leone is that wonderful country where a lot of non-ahmadi muslims join with ahmadi muslims in celebrating Eid.
The Amir & Missionary In-charge Sahib started the Eid sermon by telling the congregation the true meaning of Eid and the purpose of Ramadan. He admonished the worshipers to continue with the good practices and habits they had adopted during Ramadan. Eid means happiness that comes again and again and is celebrated on the first of Shawal. He also said that It was the sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (sa) to take bath, wear nice clothes, and put on perfume. The prophet instructed that all men, women, and children should participate in the Eid celebrations and travel to the mosque using one way and travel back home using a different way.
At the end, Maulana Saeed Ur Rahman Sahib the Ameer & missionary in-charge Sierra Loene prayed for hazrat khalifatul masih the 5th, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (May Allah be his helper), for the country, its leadership, and for the Muslim ummah.
