Tourists in Popular Japanese Region Could Soon Use a Local Cryptocurrency
Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) and an Osaka-based railway company are issuing a local cryptocurrency for use in a popular tourist area in Japan’s Mie Prefecture and is available only from November to January next year. The experiment is a highly limited trial and will take place in the Ise-Shima region, a peninsular area known for its beaches, seafood, pearl cultivation and a national park. Only 15 establishments in the region will accept the coin, including the Shima Spain Village, Miyako Resort Shima Bayside Terrace, Kashikojima Espana Cruise and the Makonde Art Museum.

Social media giant Facebook has certainly rattled the regulatory feathers of global regulators with its grand plans for cryptocurrency world domination. The G7 group of economic powerhouses agrees that such stablecoins should not be allowed to launch until the profound international risks they pose are addressed. The report concluded that Facebook could not provide evidence that it satisfied a long list of concerns including consumer and investor protection, data privacy and protection, financial integrity including AML/KYC compliance, fair competition and anti-trust, tax evasion, and cyber security.

Hackers Use Malicious Code in WAV Audio Files To Mine Cryptocurrencies
On Octomber 16, researchers at BlackBerry Cylance, a software company that develops anti-virus programs, reported the discovery of malicious code hidden within WAV audio files. This type of malware campaign, where hackers conceal malware codes in ordinary-looking files, is known as steganography.
The analysis showed that some of the WAV files contained code to deploy malware for financial gain and establish remote access within the victim machine.
