Male Mahadeshwara Hills, the sacred temple of Lord Shiva, is about 150 km from Mysore in Karnataka. ‘Male’ means hill. Mahadeswara, Lord Shiva’s abode is not only a place of pilgrimage but also attracts nature lovers as it is set amidst lush landscape. The Linga is special here as it is a Swayambhu or self-manifested one. Mahadeshwara is the family deity of the hill tribals Soligas, Jenu Kurubas, Kadu Kurubas and Kuruba Gowdas of Mysore and Chamarajnagar districts. According to tradition, there are seven hills identified in the Puranas as Anumale, Jenumale, Kanumale, Pachchemale, Pavalamale, Ponnachimale and Kongumale that form the Malai Mahadeshwara Betta or MM Hills

Malai or Male Mahadeshwara Betta (Kannada: ಮಲೆ ಮಹದೇಶ್ವರ ಬೆಟ್ಟ) is a pilgrim town located in the Kollegala taluk of Chamarajanagara district of southern Karnataka. It is situated at about 150 km from Mysuru and about 210 km from Bengaluru. The ancient and sacred temple of Sri Male Mahadeshwara is a very popular Shiva pilgrim centre and one of the most powerful shiva temple. It draws lakhs of pilgrims from the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The area of the present temple surroundings is 155.57 acres (0.6296 km2). In addition, the temple has lands at Talabetta, Haleyuru and Indiganatha villages. Amidst dense forest, the temple attracts not only the pilgrims but also nature lovers. The height of the hill is about 3000 feet above sea level.

Gundal Dam at Kollegala Tourism , Chamrajnagar Tourism Karnataka tourism. Gundal Dam is built on River Gundal. Gundal Reservoir is located in Kollegal Taluk of , Chamrajnagar District. It is Sub-basin of river Cauvery. The Gundal Dam was Completed in the year 1980. Gundal Dam was built to help Irrigation of various villages around the area. The reservoir get filled from July To November . The drive along the roads to the dam is brilliant, except for the last 5kms to the dam entrance. This place is located in Western Ghats hill range starting from Kerala and ending in Tamilnadu. Gundal dam is constructed in between MM Hills and B.R.Hills .Few songs and scences from the Kannada movie Veera Parampare was shot here.
Gundal Dam is 158 kms from Bengaluru, 250 kms from TamilNadu, 275 kms from Kerala, 80kms from Mysore and 17kms from Kollegal town. Kollegala is one of the major taluks in the Chamrajnagar District of Karnataka State in the south of India ,at the foothills of the Western Ghats. It is also the largest taluk in Karnataka. Kollegala is well known for its silk industry which attracts traders from all over the state.

Bale Mantapa - Interlocked stone ring temple Yelandur, Chamarajanagar tourism Karnataka tourism temples of Karnataka. The Gaurishvara Temple (also spelled Gaurishwara or Gaurisvara) is located in the town of Yelandur, Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka state, India. The temple was constructed by a local chief Singedepa Devabhupala of the Hadinadu chiefdom, a feudatory of the 16th century Vijayanagara Empire. The temple is locally known as Bale temple due to its unusual decoration of chains of stone rings (bale) at the entrance . Bale means bangle in Kannada language, the rings resemble interlinked bangles. The Bale temple is an ancient stone carved temple.

Yelandur is located 60 Kilometers from Mysore and 160 Kilometers from Bangalore and 15 Kilometers from Kollegal. The Bale Mantapa is located very close to the Yelandur bus stand.
The temple has a sanctum (garbhagriha), a closed hall (mantapa), an open hall supported by granite pillars, and an unusual mahadwara (grand entrance) which lacks the usual tower (gopuram) over it. This type of an entrance is called bale mantapa (bangled hall) in a contemporary style. The sanctum contains the linga, the universal symbol of the Hindu god Shiva. The closed hall has images of various Hindu deities; Vishnu, Shanmukha, Parvati, Mahishasuramardini (a form of the goddess Durga), Bhairava (a form of the god Shiva), Durga, Virabhadra (another form of Shiva) and Ganapati. The walls of the entrance are heavily decorated with reliefs depicting scenes from the puranic stories and the epics.
