Alor Setar, formerly known as Alor Star from 2004–2008, is a city and the state capital of Kedah, Malaysia. It is the second largest town in the state after Sungai Petani based on the population and one of the important cities in the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia along the longest expressway, located 400 km from Kuala Lumpur and 79 km (49 mi) north of George Town, Penang. The city is home to the Central State Administration Centre and is the administrative centre of Kota Setar District.

Alor Setar is one of the unique cities and towns in Malaysia because the employment both government as well as private sectors and schools in this city known as the 'tip of Malaysia' here operates from Sunday to Thursday every week just like other towns such as Kuala Terengganu in Terengganu, Kota Bharu in Kelantan, and Johor Bahru including Iskandar Puteri in Johor, which makes it different and special from other populated places.

Its location along the main travel route from Malaysia to Thailand has long made it a major transportation hub in the northern Malay Peninsula. At present, the city covers a land area of 666 square kilometres, which is occupied by more than 300,000 inhabitants (as per the 2010 census). At the local government level, Alor Setar is administered by the Alor Setar City Council.

The city is served by the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport, which began operations in 2006. The airport is not served by any commercial international flights; however, during the Haj season, there are special flights available for Muslim pilgrims journeying to Saudi Arabia to perform the Haj. The city is connected to other parts of Peninsular Malaysia by the North–South Expressway, the Shahab Perdana Bus Station and the Alor Setar railway station. The city's Kuala Kedah Jetty is served by ferries linking the city with the popular resort island of Langkawi.

Kedah is a state in northwest Malaysia.Bordering Thailand. Langkawi can be reach by Ferry, it is the tourist destination of Kedah.

Perjalanan saya dari KL ke Alor Setar, Kedah , Darul Aman. Agak2 ambil masa lima jam lebih, itu pun klu masa tk banyak kereta. Perjalanan yang banyak letih duduk dekat kereta lama2.
Kedah terletak di bagian pinggir Malaysia sempadan dengan negara Thailand dengan melalui darat dengan bus ataupun kereta.Kedah juga dekat ke Langkawi dengan menaiki Ferry.

Saya dah banyak kali datang ke Alor Setar sini. Pertama kali datang sini kalau tak salah pada tahun 2006, masa tu menghadiri pernikahan saudara saya.
Saya suka Alor Setar tmpt dia bersih dan banyak sawah padi dan gunung/bukit. Tapi memang cuacanya selalu panas, kalau saya datang kesini.
Shopping Mall sini besar dan cantik, dan saya suka pergi ke H&M karna kadang sesetengah baju dekat KL tak dapat dicari walaupun sama H&M. Shopping Mall ini belum lama sangat dan sekarang Alor Setar dah banyak perubahan dari sebelumnya.

Masjid Zahir di Alor Setar memang cantik, saya suka tengok, bila jalan2 depan kota Alor Setar. Karna kalau malam tak ada tempat mau pergi kemana2 kecuali ke Shopping Mall & makan2.
Sekolah disini bermulai dari hari Minggu hingga hari Kamis. Hari Jumat & hari Sabtu cuti sekolah. Bersamaan dengan negeri Johor Baharu negeri Kelantan & negeri Terengganu. Berbeda dengan negeri2 yang lain .... Yang pada umumnya kalau di KL hari Sabtu & hari Minggu cuti sekolah.

Itu saja perkongsian dari saya, mudah2an menambah pengetahuai bagi kalian yang ingin mengetahui tentang Malaysia.

Alor setar tower Kedah

Alor Setar Tower is a 165.5 m (543 ft) telecommunication tower in Alor Setar, in the state of ‪#‎Kedah‬, ‪#‎Malaysia‬.
Apart from serving the role of a telecommunication tower, it also caters as a tourist destination for the town. The tower also houses some restaurants and a souvenir shop. The tower is an observatory tower to look for the crescent moon to mark the beginning of Muslim months such as Ramadhan, Shawwal, and Zulhijjah, to celebrate Ramadhan, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha, respectively.
The observation deck is at a height of 88 m (289 ft) from the base of the structure.

Sungai Petani, or SP, is a town in Kuala Muda District, Kedah, in northern part of Malaysia.

Sungai Petani is Kedah's largest town and is located about 55 km south of Alor Setar, the capital of Kedah, and 33 km northeast of George Town, the capital ty of the neighbouring state of Penang.

Due to its close proximity to Penang, Sungai Petani is also part of Greater Penang, Sungai Petani has experienced heavy industrialisation since the 1990s, when Japanese and other international firms began to set up manufacturing plants around the town.

Sungai Petani has a high and medium-sized business community. A lot of small and medium industry also play a part in the local economy, producing many products, from semiconductors to television tubes and from textile to wood products. One of the examples is Sharp. Sungai Petani is also a booming business center with many large malls, franchise stores and business enclaves

Sungai Petani has many malls and shopping centers such as Amanjaya Mall, Central Square, Village Mall, Lagenda Height Tesco, Sungai Petani North Tesco, Sungai Petani South Tesco, Giant Hypermarket, Econsave, Billion, Sp Plaza and Parkson

Gadis cun Itali penebar roti canai di Alor Setar Kedah (Viral Video Malaysia 2015)

KEMUNCULAN gadis jelita penebar roti canai di Jalan Teknik, dekat sini, pada awalnya tidak begitu disedari, sehinggalah gambarnya menjadi viral di laman sosial.

Maka, Gerai Din Roti Canai yang sudah memang terkenal dengan keenakan roti celaru dan roti gebu kini makin rancak dikerumuni pelanggan yang ingin merasa air tangan gadis berkenaan.

Pelajar sekolah sains, Liceo Sciemtifico Statale Democrito di Rome, Itali, Chantal Viola, 17, yang manis bertudung menebar roti canai merupakan salah seorang pelajar pertukaran sejak Julai lalu.

Kini, dia yang belajar di Sekolah Menengah Teknik Alor Setar tinggal bersama keluarga angkatnya, Ishak Mad Shah, 59, yang juga guru sekolah terbabit hingga Jun tahun ini.
