Castlemaine to Maldon Steam train

This is the Victorian Goldfields Railway Steam Train that runs from Castlemaine to Maldon 3 times a week. It is run by volunteers.

Beyer-Garratt Steam Locomotive In Australia - Wagga-Bomen Shuttles

On the Queens Birthday long weekend, Beyer-Garratt steam locomotive 6029 and 4501 ran shuttles between Wagga Wagga and Bomen. One of the shuttles ran to Uranquinty to allow an interstate passenger train (XPT) to pass through.

The tour, 'Winter Steam Safari' was run by the Canberra Railway Museum in conjunction with ESPEE Railroad Services and consisted of shuttles between Wagga Wagga, Bomen and Uranquinty on both Saturday and Sunday.

6029 is currently the largest steam locomotive in the Southern Hemisphere.

6029 has only recently been returned back to service after being out of service since the 1980s. The locomotive is based at the Canberra Railway Museum.

Pichi Richi double header steam train -- Jun 2013

The Pichi Richi double header steam train for June 2013 leaves Port Augusta as the Afghan Express, steam loco NM25 hauling, we first get a glimpse of the train at she 'rounds' the bend going under the Port Augusta highway bridge, heading across Pink Lake. We video the scheduled 'photo stop', and catch up with the train at odd spots as she makes her way though Pichi Richi Pass. Upon reaching Wool-shed Flat she is then coupled with the waiting Pichi Richi Explorer (W934). Both steam loco's then haul, the now considerable, number of carriages (11) filled with excited passengers, back to Quorn, the Afghan Express passengers joining for this part of the journey, before they (at 3 pm), leave Quorn, to return to Port Augusta. This long double headed combined train to Quorn makes a splendid sight, as she weaves her way though the magnificent Flinders Ranges. These double header trains are usually seen once a year, but, this year we are blessed with another double header on October 5th, I for one look forward to this, as do many others, for all true lovers of steam, enjoy.

Narrow Gauge Steam Trains - Puffing Billy Railway: Australian Trains

The Puffing Billy Railway in Victoria's Dandenong mountains is one of Australia's most well known heritage railways. Operating on the original route built over a century ago and a unique survivor of the Victorian Railway's four experimental 2ft 6in narrow gauge lines, Puffing Billy is now a major tourist attraction with steam trains operating year round.

Despite their small size the Na class 2-6-2 tank locomotives are impressive performers and their sound echoes off the hills as they haul trainloads of tourists, families and railfans to Lakeside or Gembrook and return. Meanwhile Beyer Garratt locomotive G42 (originally from the Walhalla and Beech Forest lines) is put to good use on the longer and heavier luncheon train.

This video shows the action between Menzies Creek, Emerald and Nobelius on a typical Sunday afternoon at Puffing Billy as filmed on 8 September 2013. 6A ran the first and last service to Lakeside while 8A ran the Gembrook service and G42 ran the lunch train.

Australian Trains: Steam on the Central Coast

An historic heritage rail excursion train, hauled by 2 steam locomotives, travelling north from Sydney to Maitland in the Hunter Valley.

New South Wales Rail Transport Museum’s 3642 & 3265 head the 5 car (plus water gin!) “Hunter Valley Limited” along the northern line towards Newcastle, on the Central Coast between Woy Woy & Gosford.

The heritage train was en-route from Thirlmere to Maitland, to be part of the Hunter Valley Steamfest.

Hello All,
Today I have the second part from The Hobsons Bay Model Railway Exhibition which was ran in a building of Latrobe Uni.
In this Part we look over the last 6 layouts which wern't show in the last part.
Also we have a look at the layout Marybourgh which was created with help from the Australian Model Railway Association (AMRA). This layout one top visitors layout for this year.
I'm hoping for the next year they would have it in a bigger place as the small area was hard to walk around.
