Ghost Watch #9 - Foyle's Room
A room in Beeleigh Abbey that proved too dangerous to sleep in..
This video illustrates an episode of 'Ghost Watch', a short series which was originally broadcast on the radio in the 1980s. Underwood gives a summary of this case in his small hardback guide: 'The Ghost Hunters Almanac' (1993), and also covers the area of Maldon, Essex - where Beeleigh Abbey is located, in his ‘Where The Ghosts Walk: The Gazetteer of Haunted Britain’ (2013).

Hello all,

This video captures a small quantity of the operations that the Royal Train held between the months of March and July of 2019.
The Royal Train was a tour operated by V/Line, Seymour Railway Heritage Centre and the Victorian Goldfields Railway as a part of the Tudors to Windsors exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
The official royal train operated with the Victorian Railways State Carriages (no.1-5). These carriages were specially built to house a luxurious interior design.
This train was made up of State Cars 4 & 5.
The tour consisted of two main forms:
one was a return trip to Bendigo from Castlemaine behind locomotives B74 & S303;
the other being a return trip to Maldon behind an available steam locomotive.
This video captures three operations of the train.
We start off with the trial train to Bendigo which had a slightly different configuration of carriages.

Steam Locomotive D3 639 Melbourne to Maldon: Australian Trains
On Sunday 23 June 2013, Steamrail Victoria transferred 112 year old steam locomotive D3 639 to the Victorian Goldfields Railway for operation on their Castlemaine to Maldon branch line over the next few months. The D3 replaced K190 which had been on loan since October last year.
The transfer move also included sitting car 80BW and the recently completed Pullman lounge car Macedon (originally a V&SAR sleeping car).
The video commences with the D3 storming over the top of Sunbury bank in fine style on a freezing cold and clear winter morning, then recovering from steaming problems on the grade out of Riddels Creek. Further shots on the mainline are at Carlsruhe, Kyneton and further down the line towards Malmsbury.
Upon arrival at Castlemaine, the D3 was transferred over to platform 3 and the VGR branch before K190 rejoined the mainline and headed back to Melbourne with 67BW.
After Y133 arrived at Castlemaine with the regular VGR train, D3 639 ventured onto the Maldon branch for the first time in over 40 years with shots at Winters Flat, Muckleford and finally Maldon.

Double Hudsons on Steamrail Maldon Experience 2013: Australian Trains
On Saturday 7 September 2013, Steamrail ran their annual Maldon Experience tour to the Bendigo, connecting with the Victorian Goldfields Railway at Castlemaine.
North British built Hudson express passenger steam locomotives R761 and R707 hauled the mainline tour with a mixture of heritage timber and steel carriages. Steamrail's D3 639 and SRHC's J515 hauled the branch line train to Maldon on the Victorian Goldfields Railway
The video commences with the hudsons steaming upgrade near Clarkefield then approaching Carlsruhe before dropping downgrade towards Taradale. After a pause at Elphinstone, we then see the R classes working hard into the Elphinstone tunnel before departing Castlemaine.
The next sequence of shots shows D3 639 and J515 climbing the final 1 in 40 grade into Maldon and then the D3 being serviced while J515 is turned.
The action returns to the mainline as R707 leads R761 upgrade away from Kangaroo Flat, then further shots near Castlemaine, Chewton, Taradale and finally Woodend.
