Porcupine Pioneer Village - Maldon Victoria 2007
We found Porcupine Pioneer Village situated just outside Maldon in Victoria. The village is a recreation, and is a complete town, with each building furnished completely as it would have been in the day. We were there in 2007.
As at July 21, 2014, Message from Maldon Visitor Centre.... Porcupine Village is not operating at present. It was on the market for some time -- I don't know what has transpired..
Flour Gold, Whetstones and Steam Trains: Prospecting in Maldon
Had a great day out with the kids last weekend. Went to the Maldon market....The wholemeal jam donuts were amazing (real jam). Found a great creek to get some gold from. Lots and lots of really fine gold. I've heard of flour gold before but haven't never seen so much. Previously I've had nano dots in my pan but never so many that they almost formed a paste in the rim of my pan. After we dug some dirt we got some ice cream and went to the railway station to eat it. Few minutes after we arrived Jenny the J class oil burning steam train arrived and the kids got a private session with the railway clowns. Streamers, balloons and other goodies. Then it was home again and the next day I processed the dirt to see what we got.
I produce videos on a bunch of topics from bees to prospecting and a stack of stuff in between but many of them show off the use of traditional vintage tools. If you see a tool that you would like for your own I probably won't sell you mine but I may have another in stock or I can get one from France, Germany, Japan or wherever. I make little bit of money from selling tools but mostly I just like to share them and share how to use them.
