History of Mosque-
This mosque is built by Prophet Mohammad SAW came from Mecca. It was built on 12th Rajjab of 22 Hijri (AD 603) Under the leadership of Malik-Bin-Deenaar R.A, Whose Dargah shareef in still beside the mosque.
Hazrat Malik Deenar (died 648 CE)[2] is the first follower of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad Sallallahuallaihiyiwassallam to come to India in order to propagate Islam in the Indian Subcontinent. •His Life & Indian King became an Muslim• Hazrat Malik Deenar was from the generation of the Sahabi. He is called a reliable traditionalist, transmitted from such authorities as Hazrat Malik ibn Anas and Ibn Sirin. He was the son of a Persian slave from Kabul who became a disciple of Hazrat Hasan al-Basri {RadiAllahuTalaAnhu}. He accepted Islam directly from Last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustufa Sallallahuallaihiyiwassallam . He (Malik Deenar) went to the Indian Subcontinent by the order of RasulAllah Muhammad Mustufa Sallallahuallaihiyiwassalm with First Indian King Who Became an Muslim By Prophet Muhammad Mustufa Sallallahuallaihiyiwassallam travelling through india To Arabia and Converted into Islam And Named as Sahabi Tajuddeen {RadiAllahuTalaAnhu} but Famous as King Cheraman Perumal, who also accepted Islam and In Traveling with Malik deenar Sahabi he Died in Oman and Buried in Oman Where today His Beautiful Shrine Located with an Tomb or Mazzar e Mubarak in Oman.

India's Oldest Mosque one of the oldest in the world.
The significance of Cheraman Juma Majsid in the Muziris Heritage Project lies in the fact that it is the first mosque in India.It was built by Malik Deenar, an Arab propagator of Islam and a follower and contemporary of Islamic Prophet Muhammad. It is believed that this mosque was first renovated and reconstructed in the 11th century AD.

Maalik Deenar is one of the first known Muslims to have come to India in order to propagate Islam in South Asia. Even though historians do not agree on the exact place of his death, it is widely accepted that he died at KasaraGod and that his relics were buried at the Malik Deenar Juma Mosque in Thalangara, Kasaragod, Kerala. Belonging to the generation of the tabi'i, Malik is called a reliable traditionalist in Sunni sources, and is said to have transmitted from such authorities as Malik ibn Anas and Ibn Sirin. He was the son of a Persian slave from Kabul who became a disciple of Hasan al-Basri. He died just before the epidemic of plague which caused considerable ravages in Basra in 748-49 CE, with various traditions placing his death either at 744-45 or 747-48 CE. I wish people who visits various Dargah like Ajmer & Nizamuddin, should visit this place once & see the difference. That was totally a different experience.
