Malinta Tunnel, Corregidor
CS Gaerlan at the Malinta Tunnel in Corregidor Island. When the tunnel was being built, there were a lot of leeches. Thus the name, Malinta, the word linta being leech in the vernacular.

Malinta because according to our tour guide when they (Filipino & Americans) started construction of the tunnel, there were a lot of linta / leeches in there, thus the name Malinta (lots of leeches). But today there are no more leeches coz they've been transfered na daw hehe ^_^

Corregidor Island WW2 War Memorial from Manila
Join us on this escorted sightseeing tour to visit the site where two of the most celebrated battles during World War II took place, the Battle of Corregidor in 1942 and the Battle for the Recapture of Corregidor in 1945, between U.S. and Japanese forces. This is a must see historical site and a popular Philippine tourist destination.
Guarding the entrance to Manila Bay, lies Corregidor Island. This tadpole-shaped island, nicknamed “the Rock,” provided the first line of defense for Filipino and American soldiers from invading Japanese forces during the WWII. It was one of the Philippines' last military bastions which was taken over by the Japanese in 1942. In 1945, it was retaken by American forces.
Relive history by partaking in the Malinta Tunnel Light and Sound Show which chronicles the events that shaped the center of American operations during the war. Then visit the Mile Long Barracks that served as the quarters of some 2,000 US officials including General Douglas MacArthur. The Philippines’ former President Manuel L. Quezon and Vice President Sergio Osmena took their oath at the tunnel’s West Entrance. We’ll take a quick detour to the Spanish Lighthouse which offers a spectacular view of Manila Bay and the South China Sea.
Additional sights include the batteries displaying various armaments from that era and the Pacific War Memorial, one of only two memorials built by the US government to mark the war.

Corregidor island and the Malinta tunnel
During World War II, Corregidor played an important role during the invasion and liberation of the Philippines from Japanese forces. Heavily bombarded in the latter part of the war, the ruins left on the island serve as a military memorial to American, Filipino and Japanese soldiers who served or lost their lives on the island. Corregidor is one of the important historic and tourist sites in the country.
It's so sad to see those garbage beside the island. Our tour guide said that those came from Manila

I went to Corregidor Island in the Philippines.
On Corregidor Island, I saw a show that is taking place at Marinta tunnel.
Because all is English, I understand the content only somehow ... I think that I am telling you about war.
There were dolls, images, sometimes a loud noise sounded.
It's in a dimly-lit tunnel, so I have a bit of a thrill.
Movie shooting was NG, only photography was OK.
