Malka Mari National Park is a national park of Kenya, situated along the Daua river on the Kenya-Ethiopia border. It is approximately 1,500 square kilometres in size. It is accessible via the Mandera Airport, and is probably the least visited national park in the nation. The park is mostly semi-arid bushland and scrubby grassland with riparian woodland and along the river. There are plants in the park that are unique to the area.Malka Mari is a IUCN Category II park designated in 1989.

Just a few hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta met top security chiefs from all the 47 counties and issued stern orders that the security agencies curb insecurity in the country, suspected militiamen from neighbouring Ethiopia attacked Malkamari village in Mandera county killing 3 people, with the number of the injured yet to be confirmed. The brazen attack on Kenyan territory has raised alarm bells in security circles as operations to beef up security in the area are stepped up. Judy Kosgey reports.
