Mallory Park Racing Circuit Faces Closure Over Noise Threat
Owners of Mallory Park racing circuit in Hinckley in Leicestershire have said it could close when the council presses ahead with legal action. The circuit is having to limit its number of race days to 92 a year.
Last night the executive of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council decided unanimously to press ahead to prosecute the circuit after the number of annual noise complaints from residents went up from 8 in 2009 to 153 in 2012.
The circuit at Mallory Park is located in the village of Kirkby Mallory and has been in operation as a motor racing circuit since 1956.

Mallory Park Circuit - Track Day 2018
Mallory Park Circuit, Track Day 2018
On July 24, 2018 I visited the Mallory Park Circuit. Actually I should visit Silverstone that day. But the press officer of Silverstone did not find it necessary to answer my request. So I went there as a normal visitor. Unfortunately, it was not open for public so I went to Mallory Park. It was on my route to Donington Park which I would visit the next day and were I was welcome.
At Mallory Park was a track day and it was no problem to visit it. Mallory Park is a small circuit with a cosy atmosphere. For the track day they built some extra chicanes with pilons, which I didn't like.
It seemed that most drivers were not very expierienced with driving on a race track. That was probalby the reason for the extra chicanes. However, the average speed in the corners was pritty low. Maybe the drivers was told on the briefing to take it easy. But there was one driver who was drifting through the corers.
Mallory Park is a motor racing circuit situated in the village of Kirkby Mallory in central England. Originally used for grass-track until 1955, a new, basically oval hard-surfaced course was constructed for 1956, with a later extension forming a loop with a hairpin.
With the car circuit measuring only 2.173 Km (1.35 Miles) it is amongst the shortest permanent race circuits in the UK. However, chicanes introduced to reduce speeds in motorcycle events mean that the Superbike Circuit is now slightly longer, at 1.41 miles (2.269 km).

This is lap 2, notable for Finlay Crocker in the Honda Civic touring car doing his best to fall off the track at every opportunity. He finally managed to deliver a spectacular spin at Tower, which is captured here in all its pirouetting glory.
Matthew Kirkby leads in the blue Caterham, who wisely kept out of the way of the grassbound Honda, and after Crocker departed he had a tidy battle with Mike Cutt in the red M3, who went on to win.

CADWELL CRMC MEETING 2011 COMPILATION (HD)
Here is a selection of clips from the Classic Racing Motorccle Club meting at Cadwell Park on the full circuit. This sequence is taken from the DVD/Blu Ray of the event.
Once again set to a musical backdrop as with the Darley meeting, but with natural sound clearly evident.
I realise the editing may be a little fast paced for some, but there are so many shots and so many riders to pack in. Hopefully most competitors are featured at some stage.
Obviously this is just a small snippet of what happened throughout the day - but hopefully it will give you a flavour of the event. Enjoy!
Maybe I will be back for CRMC meetings in 2012.

Racing Line – British motorcycle racing in the golden age of the big single
Racing Line is the story of big-bike racing in Britain during the 1960s – when the British racing single reached its peak; when exciting racing unfolded at circuits across the land every summer; and when Britain took its last great generation of riding talent and engineering skill to the world. ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The sight and sound of an MV-mounted John Surtees in action, at Silverstone in the late ’50s, set Bob Guntrip on course for a lifetime spent on and around motorcycles. A career in journalism led to stints on bike magazines in the UK and Australia, firing the passion still further, and, despite later wanderings into cricket, rugby and science writing, it seemed inevitable that Bob would one day return to his first love. The result is Racing Line, his first book, documenting the excitement of the 1960s, one of the most dramatic decades in the history of British motorcycle sport.
