Mallow Castle From The Air
Renovations are underway on the new castle building at present. The council now owns the landmark site, and it is becoming a hub for events like the upcoming Racing Home For Easter festival. On the banks of the blackwater, the older ruins are still a formidable sight. The castle is only a minute's walk from The Clock House in the center of town.
One of the best walks in North Cork follows the river bank for a couple of kilometers on either side of the castle. As well as the river, there's all sorts of interesting flora and fauna to watch for.

Mallow is spoilt by comparison to many towns in that it has two castles from which to choose. There is the Old Mallow Castle originally built by the Normans in 1185 A.D. and which was subsequently changed and enhanced over the centuries but was burnt down in 1689 the castle has so much history. Then there is the ‘New’ castle which dates from 1690 again it also has alot of history. We would love to do an investigation at the castles maybe in the future fingers crossed!! We had a beautiful and an enjoyable day out in Mallow, We love the history of a town having two castles!! Enjoy the video.
