I'm super excited to share with you our family vlog from last weekend!
We ventured off out into the glorious Yorkshire countryside to visit waterfalls, walk old train tracks and ride the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train from Grosmont to Goathland (aka Hogsmeade Station, for those Harry Potter fans!).

The North York Moors is a new area for me as I’ve not really explored there properly before now. In September 2015 I spend a few days getting to know the region starting my tour in a village better known as the fictional “Aidensfield” in a certain TV series…..
Filmed in the county of North Yorkshire. Locations include Goathland, West Beck, Mallyan Spout and the Wheeldale Roman Road. This is the first film in the North York Moors.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

Goathland, Simon Howe & Mallyan Spout, North York Moors - 12 July 2015
A 10.5 mile round trip from Goathland, the walk initially climbs onto the moor and heads for Simon Howe before bearing west and then south at the small ridge to head towards the hut of John O'Groats and Cropton Forest. After walking through the forest the route joins the road between Stape & Egton Bridge before bearing left towards Wade's Causeway. After following the causeway the route then descends into the valley of West Beck towards Mallyan Spout waterfall. From here the route continues along to Beck Hole before returning back to Goathland.

Mallyan Spout Waterfall in Goathland
A Short Walk to the Mallyan Spout in Goathland.
The Mallyan Spout was freed from years of enclosure by Francis Haydn Williams in 1891. Haydn Williams, despite facing difficulties from the landlord's solicitors, reopened up a right of way to the spout with the help of large numbers of the local people. An hotel was built next to the right of way in 1892 and prospers to this day

Eyup Guys,this time the Buspass took me to Goathland N.Y.Moors and a meeting with fellow YouTuber Big G AKA Boro Gary, we`ve been planning this camp for a while but it seems like it`s rained for months, we were very lucky over the three days two night camp as it didn`t rain once, a great camp good company and beautiful surroundings, what more could you wish for, ah well a blue eyed blond haired 18yr old dolly bird would be nice eh wishfull thinking lol, ENJOY. Wakey George.
Our Heart Beat Aidensfield adventures. AKA Goathland!
When I met my husband Greig 13 years ago in Australia and he told me he was from a place called Yorkshire the only thing I knew about Yorkshire was that Heart Beat was set there!
So he promised me if I come to visit him in England he would take me to Aidensfield!
13 years on and we finally made it! Be warned there isn't much there. The village is lovely, the train station is beautiful and parts of Harry Potter and the Hogworts express were filmed there. But the shops are full of tourist tat and the food at the Aidensfield Arm (actually called The Goathland Hotel!) didn't look great so we didn't stay for lunch!
It's well worth popping in if your passing on the way to Whitby but I wouldn't make a special trip!

Mallyan Spout waterfall
Located near Goathland (yes, Aidensfield from Heartbeat), Mallyan Spout is a hidden gem of the North Yorkshire Moors, in England... hidden behind a row of uneven rocks that can only be called a path in that people have to walk over them to reach this mini paradise. Seriously, I've walked up MOUNTAINS that were less uneven than that! This video was taken on the May '09 bank holiday. Also: that's NOT a thumb in the corner halfway through (as if!); rather, a lens flare... which looks nothing like the J.J. Abrams-esque flares from Fringe and Star Trek. Weird, that.
