Valletta, Malta | What We Did in Malta
Ahhhh Malta. Okay so I started this day by doing a private Game of Thrones tour which Querin (who doesn't watch GoT) wasn't interested in at.all.
So the tour was over by 2pm...I got back to the ship and could not find a single member of the posse. I really wanted company but it had seemed everyone was already out and doing their thing, so I readied myself for the task of going out and exploring the streets of Valletta by myself. Then the phone rang.
I answered the phone and it was Raphael asking if I wanted to hang out with them. I said yes...hung up the phone and rushed out to meet them. When I got there Raphael was confused because he thought he was talking to Querin...nope, it was me and them was he and his roommate Jose. And then there was Dennis and Karine and as we continued to walk, boom...we bumped into to Miauw who had forgotten her sunglasses and in returned picked up us.
Boom...the new posse was complete and without a single plan we set out to discover our day in Malta. I went from not being able to find a friend in the world to finding an entire soul-crew instead.
This is Malta.

The Malta and Gozo SightSeeing hop on, hop off service addresses this issue and offers a practical tour service linking all the popular places of interest on the Maltese islands. The buses are a mix of modern and retro double deckers with an open top... a feature that can be used for the 300 days of sunshine Malta gets every year.
Malta and Gozo SightSeeing tours currently offer four routes - the Malta North Route, Malta South Route, the Gozo Route and Malta by Night.

City Gate Valletta, Malta
Valletta, the capital city of Malta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the 2018 European Capital of Culture, was the centrepiece in this architectural project which rethinks the entrance into this fortified city.
The project gives the entrance back to the people as it extends the pedestrian zones leading to the gate. The ditch is also subject to a major change in use where it will now house a garden and open space emphasis on the history of Valletta.
The project is a continuation to the City Gate Project design by Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The design was consulted with RPBW and uses the same paving material and pattern. It is also an excellent example of coordination with a number of different entities both from the private and the public sector, with the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation (GHRC) leading the design and management teams.

My first trip into Malta-Valletta
This video captures my first visit to the Capital of Malta-Valletta. It also records my first taste of a pastizzi in Malta, and my first dip into the Mediterranean.
Established in 1566, Valletta has been the capital city of Malta since 1571, colloquially known as Il-Belt in Maltese. The historical city has a population of 6,444 as of March 2014, and is the southernmost capital of Europe.
Valletta contains buildings from the 16th century onwards, built during the rule of the Order of St. John also known as Knights Hospitaller. The city is essentially Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture in selected areas, though the Second World War left major scars on the city, particularly the destruction of the Royal Opera House. The City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.
The official name given by the Order of Saint John was Humilissima Civitas Valletta—The Most Humble City of Valletta, or Città Umilissima in Italian. The city's fortifications, consisting of bastions, curtains and cavaliers, along with the beauty of its Baroque palaces, gardens and churches, led the ruling houses of Europe to give the city its nickname Superbissima—Most Proud.

We just returned from Malta and we loved it there! We went to Malta during the off-season and it was one of the best experiences. We stayed in Corinthia St. George's Bay and explored the island from there. We hired a car, went to Gozo, Comino, Crystal Lagoon, Blue Lagoon, Valetta, Dingli Cliffs, Silema, Mdina (Game of Thrones locations), Marsaxlokk.
