NSW Fires: Residents of Malua Bay and Rosedale assess damage | ABC News
In New South Wales, as communities brace for horror conditions on the weekend, those who lost homes on New Year's Eve are still assessing the damage.
Two of the hardest-hit towns are Malua Bay, and Rosedale on the South Coast, where some streets have almost been entirely reduced to rubble.

Bushfires bring destruction to NSW south coast communities
A series of bushfires have encircled residents and holidaymakers on the New South Wales south coast, where two people have been confirmed dead and one missing, homes have been destroyed and mass evacuations are in place in several towns

Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast was one of the areas hardest hit by the New Year’s Eve bushfires.
Across southern NSW, at least 176 homes have been destroyed.
Seven people are confirmed dead and authorities are warning that number could rise.

Residents and visitors in NSW town of Rosedale seek refuge from bushfires on the beach
Madeleine Kelly, 17, and her family were among people staying in Rosedale, a tiny coastal town 300km south of Sydney, when they were forced to flee to the beach ahead of huge bushfires on New Year's Eve. The fires destroyed numerous properties in the town as horrified onlookers watched. The fire's onslaught was halted when the wind changed, but people remained on the beach for hours afterwards before they could be evacuated to Moruya showgrounds by bus through the devastated town.

NSW Fires: Long queues as Batesman Bay residents stock up on supplies | 7NEWS
It's just like a third world country at the moment, mate, where you got no access in or out and if you live here ... you're gonna run out of groceries, everything else, because they just can't get anything in from the roads. - Ian Loiterton - Resident
In Batemans Bay, there's been queues everywhere today; residents lined up at the Batemans Bay Woolworths, only a handful allowed in at a time to stock up on groceries and supplies, while those on their way out of town were stuck in bumper to bumper traffic.

Batemans Bay: A man and his girlfriend have both pleaded guilty to one of the lowest acts imaginable; looting from a fire-ravaged business. The pair broke in to the badly damaged store and stole more than $15,000 worth of goods.

Buildings destroyed as out-of-control NSW bushfire races towards beach communities | ABC News
A bushfire burning out of control on the New South Wales South Coast has destroyed at least one home and shut off escape routes for residents in nearby coastal communities.
The fire, north of Batemans Bay at Currowan, which is subject to an emergency warning, crossed the Princes Highway into Murramarang National Park on Monday, bolstered by strong westerly winds.
The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) said one house on the Clyde River, as well as other structures, were destroyed in the afternoon but no further details were available.

Footage has emerged of firefighters saving the life of a man in Batemans Bay, who escaped his home mere moments before it was destroyed by fire.

The race is on to move tens of thousands of people out of harm's way before dangerous bushfire conditions return on Saturday.
The RFS has declared a 'tourist leave zone', stretching from Batemans Bay, past Bega, and down to Wonboyn near the Victorian border.
Long lines of visitors began making their way home, as locals made preparations to stay and fight.

In New South Wales, holidaymakers stranded on the South Coast were today given a window to get out of the danger zone.

Horrific bushfire conditions are bearing down on Sydney tonight, as a dangerous front crosses the country's south east. Four emergency warnings have been issued; two near Wagga Wagga and Albury, and two on the south coast near Eden and Batemans Bay.
