About 2000 years ago the city was created by the nomadic Nabateans and was a Christian centre. The complex water harvesting system inspired David Ben-Gurion in his belief that the Negev could be turned into a fertile agricultural area.

Los Nabateos, Mamshit

Hoy es Jag y hacemos turismo de familia en Mamshit, una ciudad Nabatea de hace miles de años que fue destruida por los Musulmanes y reconstruida por Israel como atraccion turistica.
Los Nabateos fueron tribus que aperecieron en Eretz Israel en el siglo -4, en la Epoca Persa. Se especializaban en el transporte de mercaderias por el desierto cruzandolos en caravanas de camellos.
Ellos sabian encontrar agua en los desiertos, aprovechaban al maximo el agua de las pocas lluvias deserticas almacenandolas con sistemas que la alta tecnologia de hoy aun no logra entender, incluyendo leyes de la fisica.
Aprovechando la cantidad de agua almacenada en medio de los desiertos, levantaban ademas estaciones o pequeñas ciudades cada 30 o 40 km. para brindarles a las caravanas un lugar de descanso y comercio y esta de Mamshit es una de ellas, una de las mas grandes y desarrolladas de aquella epoca.
Esta ciudad está abierta al publico solo en Sucot y en Pesaj y todo esta adaptado a esos años: la vestimenta de la gente, la musica de fondo, la comida, los olores y en especial hay un mercado Nabateo que venden cosas antiguas ... es un lugar hermosisimo de visitar, no se lo pierdan.
La UNESCO declaro a este lugar como un Patrimonio Mundial junto con otras ciudades como estas dentro de Israel: Ovdat, Shivtah y Jalutza.
El camino que los Nabateos hacian era conocido como La Ruta de los Perfumes y comenzaba en el Yemen, atravezaban todos los desiertos de Arabia Saudita, Jordania, pasaban por aqui y llegaban al puerto de Gaza. De alli salian a Egipto para luego llegar a las Antiguas Grecia y Roma.
La principal mercaderia eran como dije perfumes, pero tambien transportaban condimentos, telas caras, sal y materiales para hacer momias.
Los Nabateos proceden del hijo de Ismael Nebayot y por eso son considerados Arabes.
Esta atraccion esta ubicada cerca de la ciudad Dimona, lejos pero vale la pena visitarla, incluso hay muchas actividades para niños. Sigo disfrutando del desierto y esta hermosa ciudad. Voy a filmar porque las imagenes saben hablar y describir mejor que yo ja ja ja

Haluza , also known as Halasa, Chellous , al-Khalasa and Elusa, is a city in the Negev, Israel, that was once part of the Nabataean Incense Route.Due to its historic importance, UNESCO declared Haluza a World Heritage Site along with Mamshit, Avdat and Shivta.The city is one of the two main potential locations for the Biblical city of Ziklag, Ziklag being considered in this case a corruption of Halusah, meaning fortress.
