Mandira dam is located near Kansbahal in Sundergarh district, Odisha, India. It is built across Sankh river, located 16 km upstream from Mandira. The water from the dam is used for Rourkela Steel Plant.Construction of the dam began after 1957. The reservoir offers boating facilities for tourists and the nearest railway station is located in Kansbahal on the Howrah-Mumbai main line of South Eastern Railway. Rourkela is the closest junction station. It is a nice picnic spot.

This video describes about Mandira dam another mindblowing picnic spot situated at the hilly region of kansbahal odisha and around 35 km from Rourkela. Time taken to reach is almost 1 hr. It is a fascinating tourist spot maintained by Odisha Tourism. The dam is developed around SANKH River and largely visited by tourist from diverse location. The best time to visit is from October to February. If you are coming from kolkata take a train to get down at Rourkela station to select hotels according to your preference, though Kansbahal is the nearest railway station. You can hire a cab to reach there. One sided river and another sided hills add to the glory of the place. There is one fantastic mega nursery picnic spot.
