Mangi Tungi Nashik - Femina Jain Vlog

Mangi-Tungi is a prominent twin-pinnacled peak with plateau in between, located near Tahrabad about 125 km from Nasik, Maharashtra, India. Around 3,500 (7,000 Up & Down) steps lead to the foot of the peak, which is enriched with several monuments of historical and religious prominence. Besides, there are numerous caves named after great Tirthankaras such as Mahavira, Rishabhanatha, Shantinatha and Parshvanatha.It enshrines images of Tirthankaras (In Jainism, a tirthankara is a saviour and spiritual teacher of the dharma righteous path). In several postures including Padmasana and kayotsarga. Sometimes, it is described as Siddha Kshetra, meaning a gateway to the state of enlightenment.

Mangi, 4,343 ft (1,324 m) high above sea level, is the western pinnacle and Tungi, 4,366 ft (1,331 m) high, the eastern.[1] Mangi-Tungi is only 100 km away from Dhule, a well known city and district place in North Maharashtra (Khandesh).

A 108—feet tall idol of Lord Rishabhdeva, the first Teerthankar of Jains, carved out of a single rock, has entered the “Guinness World Records” as the world’s tallest Jain statue. The impressive statue is located atop Mangi Tungi mountain.

मांगी - तुंगी हा महाराष्ट्रातील एक किल्ला आहे. नाशिक जिल्ह्यातील सटाणा तालुक्यात भिलवड गावानजीक हा किल्ला उभा आहे. येथे एक जैन तीर्थक्षेत्रदेखील असून, तेथे चढून जाण्यासाठी सुमारे दोन हजारांहून अधिक पायऱ्या आहेत.
पहिले तीर्थंकर भगवान ऋषभदेव यांची १०८ फूट उंच मूर्ती साकारण्यात आली आहे. या मूर्तीचा पंचकल्याणक, प्राण-प्रतिष्ठा व महामस्तकाभिषेक सोहळा फेब्रुवारी २०१६ मध्ये संपन्न होणार आहे. हा पुतळा मांगी डोंगरावर सुमारे ४५०० फूट उंचीवर साकारण्यात आलेला आहे. हे काम पूर्ण होण्यास सुमारे एकोणीस वर्षे एवढा अवधी लागला.

ही मूर्ती उभारण्यासाठी प्रथम १२० फूट लांबीच्या कापडावर या प्रस्तावित मूर्तीचे चित्र रेखाटण्यात आले व त्याबरहुकूम ही मूर्ती घडविण्यात आली. मूर्तीची रचना निश्‍चित करण्यासाठी अनेक दिवस अभ्यास सुरू होता. त्यासाठी ग्रीक तत्त्वज्ञानासह पाली, संस्कृतसह दहा भाषांतील ग्रंथांचा अभ्यास करण्यात आला. जैन परंपरेतील वसुनंदी ग्रंथातील उल्लेखांचाही अभ्यास करण्यात आला. संस्कृत, ताडपत्रांवरील ग्रंथ, तामिळ, कन्नड, तेलगू, वैष्णव ग्रंथ, द्रविड, हीडा, ग्रीक मायथॉलॉजी आदी ग्रंथांतील वर्णनांचा अभ्यास झाला. त्यात उल्लेख असलेले अंगुलीचे प्रमाण अभ्यासण्यात आले. त्याचे रूपांतर फुटांत करून मूर्तीचे परिमाण निश्‍चित करण्यात आल्याने ही विश्‍वातील सर्वांग सुंदर मूर्ती तयार झाली आहे. त्यामुळे मांगीतुंगी हे जैन धर्मीयांचे जागतिक तीर्थस्थळ होऊ घातले आहे.

अत्यंत टणक मानल्या जाणाऱ्या सह्याद्री पर्वतराजीच्या काळ्या बसाल्ट पाषाणात डोंगर कापून तयार केलेली ही मूर्ती अन्य मूर्तीच्या तुलनेत अधिक टिकाऊ व सर्वांग सुंदर मानली जात आहे. जैन तीर्थंकर भगवान ऋषभदेव यांच्या या १०८फुटी मूर्तीची नोंद लवकरच गिनीज बुकमध्ये केली

The Statue of Ahimsa is located at Mangi-Tungi, near nasik & dhule in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the tallest Jain statue in the world. The statue is 108 feet (32.9 meters) tall – 121 feet (36.8 meters) including pedestal. This statue holds the Guinness world record for the tallest Jain Idol. The certificate was awarded to Ganini Gyanmati Mataji, Chandnamati Mataji and Swami Ravindrakirtiji on 6 March 2016.
The statue was built by the inspiration of Supreme Jain Sadhvi Ganineepramukh Aryika Shri Gyanmati Mataji, and under the guidance of Aryika Sri Chandanamati Mataji. The chairman & director of the project is Swami Raveendra Kirtiji. The construction of the statue started in 2002 under the guidance of Chief Secretary Dr. Pannalalji Papdiwal and Chief engineer Shri C.R. Patil. It was completed on 24 January 2016, (Tithi-Magh Krishna Ekam). Other devotees include working President - Anil Kumar Jain, Pramod Jain kasliwal, Bhushan kasliwal, Naresh Jain Bansal, Secretary Sanjay Papdiwal and others. The Sculptor is Shri Moolchand Ramchand Nahata Firm (Proprietor- Ashish Nahata).

How to reach:-
1)Take local train and get down at Kasara station.

2)Hire jeep till base village mangi - tungi

3)To reach top of Mangi fort it takes approx 2hrs and then to Tungi fort it takes approx 1.5hrs

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the Vishwashanti Ahimsa Sammelan at Mangi Tungi, Nasik, Maharashtra on October 22, 2018.The event is being organised by the Bhagwan Shri Rishabhdev 108 Feet Vishalkai Digambar Jain Murti Nirman Committee.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that in the Jain tradition, the principle of ‘Ahimsa Paramodharma’ is distinguished for human welfare and compassion - not just for the absence of physical violence. The President said that Bhagwan Mahavir gave special importance to ‘Apirigraha’ - not taking what is more than essential to live. Humankind is exploiting nature indiscriminately. Ruthless consumption and accumulation of resources is increasing. Due to this, phenomena like climate change are emerging as challenges. Following the Jain tradition shows us a way out.
