These 6 fully grown humpbacks circled our boat for almost 2 hours. It was incredible.

Stunning day, windy, though not so much to cause any issue to the drones performance in the air.
Summer is here when you see people jumping in the water with no wetsuits. Dolphins in the bay help of course to get people to brave the chill.

This super curious humpback circled our vessel for around 15 minutes. Checking us out from every angle. When this occurs vessel are required to leaves their engines in neutral for the duration of the encounter.
This occurred 1km off Bondi Beach.
22/5/13 - Playful Whales off Manly
We got lucky once again and picked up two humpback whales just as we left the harbour. They were kind enough to entertain us for the duration of the cruise with a lot of tail slapping and once they got bored of doing that, they started breaching =)

Manly Beach is another of Australia's most popular suburban beaches along Sydney's long stretch of northern coastline. Manly Beach was named in 1788 by Captain Arthur Phillip, the first governor of New South Wales, because he was impressed by “the confidence and manly behaviour” of the area's original Aboriginal population. Take the majestic Manly ferry from Circular Quay and in half an hour you'll be at Manly Wharf. ‘Only seven miles from Sydney and a million miles from care' is a phrase often quoted by the people of Manly. When you visit this seaside town you will quickly realise why.
Nestled between a tranquil Sydney Harbour beach on one side and a popular Pacific Ocean surf beach on the other, the laid-back character of Manly Beach seems a thousand miles from busy Sydney, yet it is only a ferry ride away.
Manly is a great Sydney beach for the whole family. From the harbour foreshore, the palm-tree lined Manly Corso leads you to the Steyne promenade, where a number of surf clothing shops sell everything from surfboards to bikinis.
The 1.5 kilometre-long golden Manly Beach has a sheltered ocean pool at one end. Queenscliff, at the northern end of the beach is a great spot to learn to surf as well as for experienced surfers. Many of Australia's champion surfers learned at Manly Beach. At its southern end, a pathway curls from the Manly Surf Lifesaving Club to Shelley Beach that is a popular track for joggers, cyclists and locals.

Manly Beach Sydney Australia
Manly Beach is a beach situated among the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia in Manly, New South Wales. From north to south, the three main sections are Queenscliff, North Steyne, and South Steyne.
The beach was named by Capt. Arthur Philip for the indigenous people living there. Philip wrote that [the indigenous people's] confidence and manly behaviour made me give the name of Manly Cove to this place.
Within walking distance of Manly Beach along the oceanway is Fairy Bower and Shelley Beach. There are shops, restaurants, night clubs, and bars in town.
Travelling to Manly from Sydney's main ferry terminal, Circular Quay, takes 30 minutes by public ferry. There is also the option of a private ferry from Circular Quay to Manly (and back) between Monday and Saturday. There are two private ferry services running (also called fast ferries) and the trip takes 18 minutes.

Rainy day in July - saw a tweet about the whales being on the shore again and great timing as I hopped off the bus to work - stood in the pouring rain for a distant glimpse of these beautiful mammals. Awesome. See the whale at about 25 secs in.
