Video Game Arcade Tours - Manning's Amusement Park (Felixstowe, UK)
I was pleasantly surprised by this arcade to be honest. They have invested in newer games (Luigi's Mansion for example), while using large amounts of floor space on Bowlingo (mini bowling) and Cody's Cabin (Mechanical shooter).
Their music games consist of Percussion Master and Dancing Stage Euromix 1. Haven't seen a Percussion Master since Trocadero closed their upstairs area in London a few years back. Dancing Stage Euromix 1 is better than no dance game by a long shot, but it would be nice to see something with more than 16 songs, like Dance Dance Revolution Extreme which has 240 songs, or even Euromix 2 at a pinch!
That being said, lots of video games and they haven't sold out on redemption. Felixstowe has good arcades and knows the value of a video game!

Many of the arcades in the UK (Mainly seaside arcades) are called Amusement Arcades. They are typically packed with redemption-based machines with very few video games (As video games simply do not make money). I have placed the word Amusements in the title for these types of places as they are not true Video Game Arcades, but deserve some sort of mention. As gambling is legal in the UK, they tend to include fruit machines (aka slot machines) and various other things money-making games, so video games really take a back seat in places like these. They also really hate filming, I'm not sure why because it's free advertising, unless dodgy things are taking place lol
An amusement arcade (often referred to as video arcade or simply arcade) is a venue where people play arcade games such as video games, pinball machines, electro-mechanical games, redemption games, merchandisers (such as claw cranes), or coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables. In some countries, some types of arcades are also legally permitted to provide gambling machines such as slot machines or pachinko machines. Games are usually housed in cabinets. The term used for ancestors of these venues in the beginning of the 20th century was penny arcades.Video games were introduced in amusement arcades in the late 1970s and were most popular during the golden age of arcade video games, the early 1980s. Arcades became popular with children and particularly adolescents, which led parents to be concerned that video game playing might cause them to skip school.

Manning's Amusements - Now and Then
Charlie Manning took over Butlin's in 1946, and the Manning family have ran the business since. Although the fairground is not as large as it used to be, there are still lots of enjoyable things to do, including an indoor Mini Golf course, Amusement Arcade, Children's Fairground, and an impressive market!
A massive thank you to the Manning family and those who work there. They were extremely welcoming and helpful with the process of making this video. If you are ever in the Felixstowe area, I highly recommend visiting.

Felixstowe, England
Walking around in Felixstowe, England in March 2017.
Felixstowe Holiday 1966
Felixstowe is an Edwardian seaside town and civil parish between the River Orwell and River Deben on the North Sea coast of Suffolk, England. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 23,689.[ It includes the Port of Felixstowe, which is the largest container port in the United Kingdom.
The nearby small town of Walton is often viewed as an extension of Felixstowe as the two towns are virtually side by side, though Walton was the original village. The quieter area nearer to the Deben River is often referred to as Old Felixstowe, although there is no formal classification of Old Felixstowe.

Holding Back the Tide is a Heritage Lottery funded project coordinated by CoastNet.
The initiative is collecting stories, pictures and artefacts from East Anglian communities to tell the story of coastal change that has occurred in the region over the last 50 years or more. The project will culminate in a touring exhibition of coastal living history for regional and local museums as well as on display at other venues as requested by participants.
Central to the project is a vision for increased understanding and appreciation of the changes to the cultural and natural heritage of this part of the British coast and CoastNet wants it to be a vehicle for community cultural development, education and sustainable living.

These waltzers were most likely once a Speedway ride, as there is no flat back, making it a much faster ride. The booths actually spin too- definitely the best waltzers I have been on in awhile :0
Video Game Arcade Tours - Pier Amusements (Felixstowe, UK)
The Biggest arcade in Felixstowe! (Probably in Suffolk for that matter!). It's a large open-plan room with a good amount of video games. THey have put money into buying new machines too. There is indoor bowling and also a fair amount of redemption, but at least there are some video games!
