Manning Migrants
‘Manning Migrants’ is a public art project by Ronnie Grammatica.
Manning Regional Art Gallery and the Migrant Settlement Project presents ’Manning Migrants’ a public art project that introduces us to migrants living and working in the Manning Valley.
The participants were photographed by Ronnie Grammatica and are displayed on the external wall of the Manning Regional Art Gallery, Taree NSW (Australia). This footage was recorded on Saturday, November 10 2018.
“The aim of my work is to prompt the audience to reflect on who makes up the Taree community in 2018, to start the conversation. Art is for everyone and I’m passionate about bringing art to the people. The portraits can be seen by anyone as they will be displayed as very large posters on the outside of the gallery.” Ronnie said.
This event is part of Cultures in the Manning Stories, a platform to share cultural stories of Manning’s diverse community, through art, music, performance and story telling.
Art Gallery director, Rachel Piercy, said: “We’ve partnered with the Migrant Settlement Project for many years to improve social inclusion and events such as these are an opportunity to promote harmony and inclusion by giving people a firsthand experience of cultural diversity in our area.”

Wingham Place Making And Activation Project
In 2016, Wingham received a $50,000 grant as part of the NSW Government’s $1 million Future Towns Program.
The Future Towns Program supports regional towns and their small businesses to either:
- become digital ready; or
- consider innovative ways to undertake place activation.
In doing so, the Program aims to boost economic growth through business mentoring and revitalising town centres.
Wingham’s preferred Future Towns project was ‘place activation’ of the CBD. JOC Consulting was engaged in 2017 to assist with the project delivery and undertake community engagement with local residents, workers and school children.
With community feedback, JOC Consulting developed a Place Making Strategy for Wingham that included a priority action list of ideas to make the town centre more vibrant.
We're excited to see what's next for Wingham and would like to thank everyone involved with the Wingham Place Making Project! Wanting to know more or looking to get involved? Get in touch with the Wingham Chamber of Commerce
