Hey guys, today we are here at Manuel Antonio National Park, we're here with Daniel who is going to be our guide today and so we're hoping to see some really cool wildlife and get to know the park a little better with our trusty guide so we can't wait to show you guys so let's go.
Although it is the smallest national park in Costa Rica, Manuel Antonio National Park is the most visited national park in the country and the second most visited in Latin America. Just 3 hours from San Jose International Airport, Manuel Antonio is one of the must see places in Costa Rica thanks to the beautiful white sand beaches and exotic wildlife.
For anyone who really wants to see wildlife in the park, we highly recommend getting a guide. Manuel Antonio National Park is home to over 300 species of birds, over 100 species of mammals and over 300 species of plants. In this park alone, you can see three different types of monkeys and both the two and 3 fingered sloths.
By getting a guide, you will have greater chances to see the wildlife. Our guide found lots of interesting animals for us like sloths, a laughing falcon, insects and other birds and he shared a lot of fascinating information about the rainforest, beaches and mangroves inside the park. You can find guides to hire at the entrance of the national park or you can book a tour which also includes transportation and the national park entrance fee.
The park has several trails, including one universal access trail and you can hike to a waterfall and to several different viewpoints. There are a few beaches inside the park which are very nice for swimming.
It's worth spending one full day at Manuel Antonio National Park to enjoy the stunning beaches, hike a little through the lush rainforest and see the wildlife that call this amazing place home.

Welcome to frog tv - I'm Adam Baker.
For this episode I'm here at the picturesque Arenas del Mar rainforest resort. Behind me you can see the iconic cathedral point - one of the most famous views here in Costa Rica, it is of course the Manuel Antonio National park.
In this video we'll be focusing on some of the highlights of this lush rainforest-beach location that offers the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.
Manuel Antonio is located on Costa Rica's lush, Central Pacific Coast and is around a three hour drive from the capital - San Jose, or a short 20 minute domestic flight into the Quepos Airport.
The areas enviable location on the Central Pacific ensures warm, tropical year-round weather, meaning there is plenty to choose from year round between the beach and rainforest.
Established in 1972 the Manuel Antonio National Park is the smallest National Park in the country, and yet it remains one of the most visited. In 2011, Forbes named it 'one of the 12 most beautiful national parks in the world.'
The protected area is home to hundreds of species, including many famous faces such as the three-toed sloth, the capuchin, howler and squirrel monkey, as well as many feathered friends.
The area offers a great selection of exciting tours. Everything from parasailing to surf lessons, and rainforest nature hikes to adrenaline fueled ATV tours. The small beachfront village also offers a fine variety of local arts and crafts for souvenirs, making this area perfect for everyone.
Being one of the most popular places to visit in Costa Rica means you have plenty of fine options when it comes to hotels.
The Arenas del Mar Resort has perhaps the best location of all. Located on the beach, it overlooks the National Park from within the rainforest - offering breathtaking views and easy beach access. With its renowned service, comfortable suites and fine dining, means Arenas del Mar is perfect for romantic getaways & connecting with nature.
For larger groups Buena Vista Villas is ideal. This property has its own private access to a secluded beach that is surrounded by wildlife. The two and three bedroom villas are great for families, and it's location just above the local town means there are many good dining spots nearby.
For a smaller, intimate boutique hotel La Mansion Inn provides the answer. Offering an exciting selection of suites, fine views from the sky lounge, and fresh bistro meals at the Jacques Cousteau Restaurant. The famous 'Bat Cave' bar is undoubtedly a highlight - making your stay here utterly unique.
Now don't just take his word for it - this region is truly amazing. Going from tropical rainforest to golden sand beaches in a matter steps!
Catch me next time for more info on everything Costa Rica!
For Frog TV I'm Adam Baker,
Hasta la proxima.

Costa Rica- Manuel Antonio National Park
Take a trip through the Manuel Antonio National Park with us...
Costa Rica'a first major ecotourist destination was Manuel Antonio, and it remains one of the country's most popular beach area destintations; composed of three long strands of magnificent white sand beach, bordered by rainforest on one side, and by the Pacific on the other. Overlooking these wide, pristine beaches are tall cliffs covered in thick jungle vegetation and the views from the hills overlooking Manuel Antonio are spectacular. In fact, Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the few locations in Costa Rica where the primary forest comes down to the waters edge in places, often allowing bathers to swim in the shade.
Pristine sandy beaches, cliffs, points, ravines, rainforests, diverse wildlife and an extremely hot climate are some of the features of Manuel Antonio Park. Manuel Antonio National Park is located just south of Jaco, along the pacific coastal highway, which makes it a highly accessible destination. One of the most popular parks in Costa Rica is also one the smallest. Although small, the parks 683 hectares boast some of the countrys most varied and breathtaking scenery with ecological treasures on every hiking trail. Enclosed by lush and very wet tropical forest, the parks trails offer sightings of white-faced monkeys, sloths, coatis, raccoons, iguanas, snakes and many bird species. The park is also home to the Costa Rican squirrel monkey, which is endemic to Manuel Antonio, but also endangered. Manuel Antonio is a must for any traveler with an eco-conscience agenda.
Manuel Antonio National Park came very close to becoming a resort in the early 70s, but was saved by various local eco-friendly interest groups. The park has become a popular destination for its picturesque beaches and diverse ecology and at one point started to become overcrowded. This problem was soon alleviated when park officials decided to enact a maximum number of visitors who would be allowed into the park each day.
Adventure opportunities are around every corner in Manuel Antonio. Surf shops offer rental boards for use on the local beaches, and provide lessons for beginning surfers. The sunset at Manuel Antonio is truly unbelievable and there are local guide outfits that provide sunset sailing tours for an extraordinary sunset experience. Local dive centers give lessons and guide their guests to some of the most inaccessible yet pristinely beautiful places on the globe. Other scenic sites in Manuel Antonio are: the tombolo at Cathedral Point, a long, sandy strip that connects what was Cathedral Island to the mainland; the cove at Escondido Harbour with blue-green waters bordered by underwater caves and cliffs pounded by the surf; and the magnificent beaches where sometimes olive ridley and green turtles come to lay their eggs.
Quepos is a great option for visitors traveling on a budget as Manuel Antonio is right around the corner.
Once a significant banana shipping port, Quepos is now something of an inexpensive dormitory town to its more popular neighbor Manuel Antonio. This small diverse fishing town is located on the pacific coast, just 4 miles north of Manuel Antonio National Park. Often utilized by backpackers or travelers on a budget, Quepos provides many economical options for food and lodging accommodations.
Quepos provides the traveler with places to party, with its many local bars, nightclubs, and discos that will cater to any nightlife interests.

Gaia Hotel Reserve Manuel Antonio Costa Rica
Hey Everyone, we got a chance to stay a couple nights at the Gaia Hotel and Reserve in Manuel Antonio Costa Rica. Folks, this is a 5-Star, ADULT ONLY hotel and resort. Quite funny actually, the night before we were at Tranquilo Backpackers in San Jose- reviewing that and some of the other hostels in the San Jose area. The next night, Gaia in Manuel Antonio. So, does this 5-star hotel live up to its status? I gotta say we were thinking Gaia may be a little pretentious, after all, studio's and villa's start at about $220 and go up to about $900. Don't get me wrong, we appreciate 500,000+ thread count and flat screen tv's as much as anyone, and they DO have a 12 acre Reserve with rare wildlife and lush vegetation on the property. But what about the pretentiousness? Would they be snooty? Well, Check this video out and see if the Gaia Hotel and Reserve meet OUR standards of 5-Star... without the ATTITUDE.

This canopy tour is not your usual canopy tour, it starts with you getting in a one person electric motorbike thing and setting off by revving the throttle of the little bike. You have full control of the bike while on the zipline, and you ride yourself around the 500m jungle canopy.
