Maoling Mausoleum (Great White Pyramid, 茂陵) - Pyramids of China Part 2
The Maoling Mausoleum is the second largest pyramid in China and is where Emperor Wudi (140-87 BC) was buried. It measures 222 metres x 217 metres and is 46 meters in height. Construction of the pyramid took place during the Han dynasty from 139BC. Apparently the mausoleum contains gold and treasures that are yet to be uncovered.

The Maoling Mausoleum in Xian
Maoling Mausoleum (Mao Ling) Summary Maoling Mausoleum is the tomb for Emperor Wudi.
China Series: Han Wudi (Emperor Wu) Pyramid Tomb - Maoling
From 139 BC this is the largest of all Western Han Tombs, and rightfully so as it belongs to the most famous and longest serving emperor of the Han Dynasty (2nd all-time longest of China's emperors), Emperor Wu (or Han Wu Di).
As impressive as this man and his tomb are, the visit was not so great. I passed by the tomb in a taxi some 10-12 years ago and it was just sitting there untouched raw in farmland, and I vowed to return for a closer look one day. That day came today, and a lot has changed ! The tomb is all fenced off, there is a large car park, there is an entry fee, paved pathways abound, security cameras everywhere, and people are no longer allowed to climb to the top of the tomb (which really disappointed me as the view would give a great outlook over surrounding tombs).
I understand why all this has happened, and part of me is glad tombs like this are being protected and recognised as legitimate tourist spots - however - I'm not going to pretend I don't regret not stopping here all those years ago for a closer look, without all the bells and whistles that surround it now. This is the 4th or 5th place now in China that has been touristed (if that's a word) and changed immensely since I put it on my bucket list a decade ago - for better or worse China's tourism progress is rapid.
Anyway my reaction to the changes here probably explains why this video is pretty short with abrupt jumps between locations, I wasn't really in the mood once I saw the changes (despite a long bus ride and walk to get here).
My rant above doesn't change the fact that the history that exists here is immensely important, so please come and check out the tomb if you are coming to Xianyang or Xian. The entry fee does actually give you access to the nearby Huo Qubing tomb and related museum also, which makes it more worth it (although I've been to the Huo Qubing tomb some years ago, so I didn't go again).
There is much information about Han Wu Di online in English, and some on Maoling too, you can start here:
Mauling Museum - Pyramids of China Part 1
The Mauling museum is the location of the Huo Qubing Tomb and Xianyang Pyramid. It located about 24 miles west of Xi'an city. Just like the Pyramids of Egypt, the Pyramids of China were tombs built for the emperors when they past away.

The Ming Tombs
The Ming Dynasty Tombs are located some 42 kilometers north-northwest of central Beijing, within the suburban Changping District of Beijing municipality. The site, located on the southern slope of Tianshou Mountain (originally Mount Huangtu), was chosen on the feng shui principles by the third Ming Dynasty emperor Yongle (1402--1424), who moved the capital of China from Nanjing to its the present location in Beijing. He is credited with envisioning the layout of the Ming-era Beijing as well as a number of landmarks and monuments located therein. After the construction of the Imperial Palace (the Forbidden City) in 1420, the Yongle Emperor selected his burial site and created his own mausoleum.
From the Yongle Emperor onwards, 13 Ming Dynasty Emperors were buried in this area.

THE HEXI CORRIDOR - EP02.Passage
Zhang Qian brought back the information collected in his journey to the Western Regions, which further strengthened the determination of Emperor Wu of Han to open the Hexi Corridor. This episode is mainly about the Hexi Battle that happened in the Hexi Corridor in 121 BC. Led by the young general Huo Qubing, the Han cavalry launched three attacks against the Xiongnu army and finally succeeded in breaking through the Hexi Corridor within a year. From then on, the Hexi Corridor was included into the territory of the Han Dynasty.
