Mappila Bay. One of the best places in Kannur to get fresh fish. I went here on a Saturday morning at around 10am.

Mappila Bay : Natural Harbour, Ayikkara, Kannur
Mappila Bay is one of the beautiful attractions in Kannur district of Kerala. The natural harbour of Mappila Bay is located close to the Arakkal Kettu Museum and St. Angelo's Fort. This harbour has served a lot as a port in ancient periods for foreign trades, in Malabar region. Now, it is a fishing harbour and the fish lovers can find fresh catches in the harbour market. It is really interesting to walk around watching the fisherman mending their nets, docked boats and the boats firing in to the sea.
There is an extension from the St. Angelo's Fort, which extends in to the sea that separates inland water and the sea. This extension creates a safe docking area for boats. I heard about boating facilities within the harbour, but due to lack of infos and some hurry-burry can't go for it. Anyway if you are visiting this place you can try it, please avoid it in monsoons.
One can access this place easily as it is a few kilometers away from the railway station. From railway station there are autoriksha and taxi services for the travellers.
Travel: don't hear what they says.. go... see... It is all about experiences????
