Dave and Helen in New Zealand - Rabbit Island - Mapua - Golden Bear Brewery
Had a great day out on Rabbit Island and Mapua. We parked up on Rabbit Island and walked along the beach in searing heat for about One and A Half Hours. When we got to Mapua, the Ferry was just about to leave so it was a bit of a rush. Did a bit of shopping in Mapua and then got the ferry back to Rabbit Island. The Golden Bear Brewery sold EXCELLENT Craft Beer. Every where you go in Nelson there's a Craft Beer Brewery which is good for someone like me who enjoys CRAFT BEER.
Claire & Steve in NZ - Part 4 - Mapua, Rabbit Island & Wellington
Part 4 of our holiday videos takes us to Mapua, a small quaint coastal village in Tasman Bay, Rabbit Island, which is a densely forested island with a magnificent sandy beach not far from Nelson, and finally a day trip to Wellington.
For the day trip to Wellington we got up in the early hours of the morning and drove to Picton for the 6.30am three hour ferry journey to the capital.

Mapua and Ruby Bay
The quaint coastal village of Mapua is a delightful place to while away a day. With a collection of waterfront restaurants, galleries, boutique shops, a brewery and an ice-cream parlour you will be well catered for.
Watch the local children jumping off the wharf into the ocean, try your hand at fishing or take the ferry across to Rabbit Island. You can also hire bikes from here to go for a ride on the Great Taste Trail – take in the sea views and visit wineries and art galleries along the way
KINA BEACH RESERVE is an awesome spot next to the water.
It is split into two: a day area, and a camping area.
It is very tidy and organised and has toilets, recycling, taps
and BBQ areas all surrounded by a large grassy area and trees.
The reserve is found on the way to the golf course,
past vineyards. It is also close to a wicked berry picking spot
off the Ruby Bay Highway and has a corner store nearby.

-- About this video --
Today we are going to that other lake in the Nelson Lakes National Park, Lake Rotoroa. Yesterday, we went to Lake Rotoiti but this lake is about a 20-minute drive off the main state highway so so many backpackers miss it. But today, we’re going to show you that going to Lake Rotorua is worth getting off the beaten track for.
We arrive at the beautiful Lake Rotoroa with a jetty looking out to the mountain and lake views. There are also a number of hikes at Lake Rotoroa so we check out the Lake Rotoroa Nature Walk, which is recommended to us by a couple of Kiwi locals that we meet at the lake.
The Lake Rotoroa Nature Walk is a 20-minute walk around the beautiful beech forest with birds and isolated lake beaches.
After a hike around Lake Rotoroa, Robin realises that he needs to go to the hospital as he has an inflamed finger. We find that the medial centres and health care in New Zealand is very helpful and another example of the help from locals in New Zealand.

Waiheke Island Property - 677 Orapiu Road, Omaru Bay
This waterfront haven, known as Homebeach, is one of rare privacy, tranquillity and quality. Arrive and you may never want to leave.
Accessed via a well-formed driveway, that winds down through the native-forest covered valley, the four bedroom contemporary home is sited on an expansive flat lawn adjacent to the coast and enjoys both northerly and easterly aspects. The surrounding valley slopes afford the home shelter from the southerly and westerly winds and, with point-to-point boundaries, the 5.4 hectare property has a beautiful symmetry with nature.
Homebeach has been both a haven and playground for the family who built the home and nurtured the property and its native wildlife with extensive native plantings and a pest control programme. A QEII Covenant over part of the land protects privacy into the future.
The home enjoys the perfect outlook from every room, with a V-shaped configuration of living/kitchen/lounge wing, and the four double bedrooms, study and bathrooms. All living and bed rooms open onto a perimeter deck, nicely sheltered with louvres or generous eaves. There's a perfectly positioned outdoor fireplace within an outdoor room between the two living rooms. A second outdoor area is located in a sheltered courtyard. An internal-access double plus garage is located in the south corner of the dwelling.
The land has cultivated vegetable gardens, a variety of fruit trees and plentiful firewood.
With a private beach at your doorstep it is very easy to enjoy all water based recreational activities. You can even launch your boat from your front lawn. Should a new owner desire, ample scope exists to enhance the amenity of this already special property.
This property is one of the island's best kept secrets offering space, privacy and serenity all within 30 minutes' drive of the island's main ferry terminal and villages.
A rarely available offering.
