Amaliada is a town and a former municipality in northwestern Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ilida, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 251.945 km2. In 2011, the municipal unit had 28,520 inhabitants, of whom 16,763 lived in the town of Amaliada. It is near the archaeological site of Elis, the city-state whose territory was the site of the ancient Olympic Games. It is situated in the plains of Elis, 6 km from the Ionian Sea. It is 10 km southeast of Gastouni, 16 km northwest of Pyrgos and 60 km southwest of Patras. Amaliada was named after Queen Amalia of Greece in the 1830s, and formed by merging two communes, Kalitsa and Dervitselepi. It features a city square with beautiful pine trees and a fountain. Most of the streets are in grid order running almost due north, south, east, and west. On the east side, Amaliada has a public sports stadium . The hospital and the monastery of Fragkavilla are in the southeast. Amaliada has a train station on the line from Patras to Pyrgos. A street in Amaliada's west side is named Hiroshima in memory of the victims of the nuclear destruction of Hiroshima at the end of World War II. Kourouta and Palouki are the beaches of Amaliada, about 6 km southwest of the town centre.

Marathias, Corfu, Greece, Santa Barbara Beach, the perfect place to go wild

At the north begins where the beach of Agios Georgios of Argyrades ends and to the south ends at Santa Barbara Beach (yet I do not understand why they called it so) with which it has no clear boundaries and in fact the two beaches form together a long sandy beach stretched for about 4 kilometers up to where the beach of Vitalades begins.
If you are looking for a quieter spot away from the crowded central part, you have 4 km of endless sand to walk to the south.
The beach is organized with sun loungers and umbrellas and several restaurants along it, and it also offers water sports.
Of course, the waters are crystal clear due to the open sea and sand is very fine, it is also very good for families with children since it does not deepen abruptly.
On the main road, you will see signs showing the route, you may also find signs that point to Malta beach, follow them, it’s the same place with a different name.

Marathias Corfu: Marathias is a beautiful coastal resort in the southwest coast of Corfu. The beach is highly recommended by the locals for its crystal waters and the golden sand. The long sandy beach surrounded by the imposing hill forests is ideal for all tastes.

Numerous tourist facilities, like umbrellas and sundecks are set on one side while the beach offers some dining proposals with a beautiful panoramic view of the sea. However, just a few meters away from the mass tourism, you will find some privacy at the long beach of Marathias that extends for 2 km.
