Marble in Vila Vicosa
A small glimpse of formerly rolling machinery in the marble museum, Vila Vicosa, and a visit at a quarry. With a stone saw.
Exploring the castle at Vila Vicosa (Portugal)
This castle is located at the foot of Vila Vicosa and overlooks the entire village. The artillery provision of the caste is important as regards national military architecture, with clear influence from the Italian Renaissance. The fortress houses the Archeological Museum and the Hunting Museum.
We had a lot of fun doing this video so i hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for watching.

Vila Viçosa Alentejo Portugal HD
Vila Viçosa is known as the Princess of the Alentejo. Although small, it is one of the most precious and charming jewels of the Alentejo, a village-museum.
The name Vila Viçosa is due to the fertility of the soil and the charms of its territory. This Alentejo village is the land of one of the most illustrious Portuguese poets, Florbela Espanca. The author wrote extraordinary works of art from our literature and pioneered the feminist movement in Portugal. He managed to take away the then unknown name of the village.
Vila Viçosa is a town full of history, with a rich and enviable heritage created by man throughout the centuries. It was and still is nature that provides the raw material for the creation of varied pieces of decorative rocks. The highlight goes to marble, which has long played a key role in the county's economy.
The region's marble is of superior quality and internationally known. It is abundant in the region and is exploited and extracted from the approximately 160 existing quarries. One of the first places to visit in Vila Viçosa should therefore be one of these quarries. You will see how this rock is rough and how, after much work, it comes to us full of beauty in the most unexpected forms.
Vila Viçosa, Portugal - The princess of Alentejo
Vila Viçosa, a town full of surprises, who would have guessed that this small town was once home of the Bragança Dynasty, whose Kings ruled Portugal. There is plenty to see and you can do it without being surrounded by tourists. Paço ducal, museum, castle and churches, when walking around this town it felt like going back in time.
We really enjoyed our time here, as a family traveling with a young toddler we love to be able to visit historical sites without being surrounded by tourists, so this was quite special, plenty of space for our son to explore without us needing to be constantly monitoring him, it was just perfect.

BETWEEN COLLAPSES
The narrative of Between Collapses starts from the presupposition to consider the mountain as an intercultural sacred symbol, to construct a profane image that subverts this starting principle. The aim of this profanation is to represent the human being exploratory logic, capable of, simultaneously, destroy and construct the foundations of its own evolution - the environment. The goal of this eco-art work is to alert human conscience to the vital necessity for a cultural and technological evolution in respect with a sustainable exploration of natural resources.
This diptych video shows two different moments sharing the same intention. The left side displays a sculpture / animation work, made of parallelepiped marble pieces, that represent the construction / deconstruction of a mountain. The right side of the diptych shows a video documenting the activity of a quarry from the Portuguese village of Vila Viçosa. If, with the sculpture / animation piece the perception of the construction/deconstruction state is doubtful, the understanding of the documentary clearly reveals us that the quarry exploration will persist until is limits.
