Why we LOVE South West Australia - Busselton & Margaret River Ep.72
We trekked down to Busselton and settled ourselves into a van park for 2 nights. Our good mates Blaine & Shenaid from Camper Australis had made some last minute plans to come join us for the weekend. We explored the surrounds, visited some breweries, checked out some markets and fished off the iconic Busselton jetty.
After visiting Dunsborough and the surrounds, we really loved the atmosphere here. This has been the first place on our trip, we have both said we could live here. Eagle bay and Garnet Rocks took our breath away and are up there with some of our favourite beaches! Amz couldn’t resisit not visiting Simmo’s ice-creamery. She was in heaven trying to choose a flavour from their 40+ flavour range.
We are starting to get a taste of this south west, and understanding why people rave about it. Its still early days, but so far we are loving our time down here and can’t wait to see more. Next stop Margaret River through to Pemberton and surrounds.
Margaret River & surrounds
After leaving Busselton, we headed south into the Margaret River region. Setting ourselves up at ‘The Olive Farm’, a low cost campsite. You need to be self contained and all sites are unpowered at $15 a night (for 2 people). We found this a great spot to base ourselves while exploring all the surrounds.
For our first day we headed to Gracetown for a swim. The local beach had a pontoon anchored out in the water, so swam out did some flips between our sun baking. Working up quite the appetite and thirst, that we stopped by at the Cheeky Monkey for lunch. We then had a leisurely stroll through the town of Cowaramup which is only a small town, but covered in dairy cow sculptures. Rusty was a little unsure as we walked by them.
Prevelly was a nice sleepy town. Kurt had a fish at the River mouth and from the rocks just south of Gnarabup beach. We had a coffee at the White Elephant Cafe, which overlooked Gnarabup beach and boat ramp. It was quite a busy little spot with plenty of people coming and going, and this was midweek. While in Prevelly we also found a cool little cave. A good old ‘Wikicamps’ special, told us where to park and where the track was to reach it.
On another day, we also visited Yallingup to see all the sights around the area. We checked out Rabbits beach, Torpedo rock, spotted dolphins at Smiths beach and walked a little bit of the cape to cape track. The Injidup Natural spa was definitely amazing to see. A natural spa from the waves of the ocean, crushing over rocks which trickle down like a waterfall, giving a natural spa feel. Be sure to visit on high tide so you can see the full ‘spa effect’. c
A total of nine nights we spent at the Olive Farm, as it was so nice and relaxing. Each site had be designed so that you wouldn’t directly see your neighbours. It had a beautiful walk down to the river, through the forest with signs identifying each tree species. Just down the road was the Colonial Brewing Company, which does $10 pizzas every Friday night. We can confirm both pizzas and beers were delicious.
Overall we ate well, saw the sights, got a real feel for the area and had a lovely time in Margaret River and surrounds.

Finally before his arrival to Margaret River he does a rose wine tasting over one of the few PINK LAKES in the world.
The arrival to Margaret River has him meeting Josh Palmateer a local professional surfer who shows him the surf culture in this amazing beach town and then the two of them go see Matthew Byrne at Evans and Tate Winery to learn more about their local wines and trellis systems before ending this series caving on the Indian Ocean!

First Time Abseiling In WA
A group of first timers abseil in WA. They seem oblivious to the majestic coastal panorama surrounding them. Maybe the thought of crashing 40m down to the rocks below had something to do with that. However they were never in real danger. It was all part of the Friends Of Adventure 2013 Easter Camp. Abseiling footage shot at Wilyabrup Sea Cliffs near Margaret River.
Ep. 32 Taste bud pampering in Margaret River - Everywhere Together
We visit Margaret River wine region where we taste some artisan chocolates, gourmet cheeses and of course the incredible wine of Vasse Felix. We also enjoy the beautiful sunsets and sunrises near Naturalist Bay, walk the famous Busselton jetty, where we spot some dolphins.
At last, we arrive to sunny Perth where we break free from the Fremantle Prison, and participate a global hackathon event organised by NASA.

[호주여행]마가렛리버와인으로 떠나요-익스피디아
마가렛 리버는 호주 남서쪽 해안에 돌출되어 있는 곳인데요, 인도양과 남빙양이 만나는 곳에 위치하죠. 이곳의 대자연은 태초부터 굉장히 아름다웠답니다. 마가렛 리버 지역은 그야말로 무엇이든 풍부한 곳입니다. 기막히게 아름다운 해변이 많고 유명한 서핑 장소도 50개가 넘죠. 어디를 가든 맛있는 진수성찬이 눈 앞에 펼쳐지는 곳이에요. 또한 아주 오래된 카리 숲이 수천 종의 난초와 야생화로 가득한 해안의 황야로 이어집니다.

마가렛 리버 지역은 호주 서부 해안을 따라 129km 이상 뻗어 있어요. 내륙으로 32km 더 뻗어 있고요. 이 외진 곳을 둘러보는 가장 좋은 방법은 차량을 이용하는 것이에요. 퍼스에서 3시간 반 정도 운전해야 하는데 중간에 번버리에서 쉬어가면 좋아요. 이곳에서 멋진 해변과 등대, 그리고 느긋한 현지 사람들을 만나실 수 있죠. 고속도로를 따라 40분 더 가면 마가렛 리버의 관문인 버셀톤이 나와요. 버셀톤의 보석은 바로 목재 잔교입니다. 남반구에서 가장 길다고 해요. 1865년에 지어진 이 잔교는 수많은 화재와 사이클론을 견디며 오늘날 호주에서 가장 독특한 다이빙 장소 중 하나가 되었죠. 잔교의 끝에는 8m 깊이에 수중 전망대가 있어 잔교의 철탑에 사는 다양한 수중 생물을 구경하실 수 있어요. 버셀톤에서는 호주에서 가장 멋진 풍경의 도로 중 하나인 케이브스 로드가 시작됩니다.
이 지역 곳곳에 위치한 환상적인 종유굴에서 이름을 따왔다고 해요. 가장 구경하기 좋은 곳은 매머드 케이브에요. 싱그러운 숲을 지나 내려가면 새들의 지저귐을 뒤로 한 채 고요한 지하 세계로 들어가게 됩니다. 케이브스 로드는 아름다운 마을과 오래된 제재소 마을을 지나 내륙으로 이어집니다.
그러다가 이 지역의 주요 정착촌인 마가렛 리버가 나오지요. 케이브스 로드는 길이가 111km에 불과하지만, 전체를 구경하는 데 며칠이 걸려요. 마을마다 농장마다 가던 길을 멈추고 자세히 살펴보게 만들죠. 순수한 빗물로 만든 맥주도 있고, 세상에서 가장 행복한 젖소에서 얻은 아이스크림과 치즈도 있지요. 열정과 사랑으로 만들어낸 올리브 오일과 잼도 맛보세요. 하지만 결국에는 날씨와 토양과 사람이 만들어내는 와인으로 귀결되죠. 삼면이 바다로 둘러싸여 있고 여름에 거의 비가 오지 않아 와인 제조 지역으로 적합한 마가렛 리버는 프랑스의 보르도 지역과 비교되어 왔어요. 마가렛 리버의 첫 번째 포도밭은 1960년대 중반에 생겨났답니다. 와인 업계에서는 바로 어제나 다름없지만, 지금은 와이너리가 200개가 넘어요. 천천히 여러 와이너리를 돌아보세요. 샤도네이, 쉬라즈, 까베르네 쇼비뇽 등 최고의 와인을 맛보실 수 있을 거에요. 이 지역 최초의 와이너리인 바스 펠릭스와 같은 곳에서는 굉장히 멋진 곳에서 호주에서 가장 독창적인 음식도 맛보실 수 있어요. 지금까지 케이브스 로드는 수십 년간 현지 어부와 서퍼들에게만 알려진 해안 쪽으로의 갈림길이었답니다. 마가렛 리버의 북쪽 끝에는 케이프 내추럴리스트가 있어요. 외진 장소로 둘러싸인 곶입니다. 벙커베이, 이글 베이, 밀럽 비치처럼 말이죠. 케이프 내추럴리스트 등대에서 왼쪽으로는 지오그래프 베이가, 남쪽으로는 케이프 리우윈이 있답니다.
6월부터 12월까지는 이 등대 주변의 전망대로 인해 이곳에 사람이 몰리는데요, 바로 고래를 보기 위해서입니다. 케이프 내추럴리스트는 호주에서 가장 멋진 산책로 중 하나인 케이프 투 케이프 트랙이 시작되는 곳이에요. 여러 해변과 절벽을 지나면서 많은 곳을 연결하는 트랙인데요, 호주 원주민 이름을 가진 곳이 많아요. 얄링업이라는 곳의 이름은 사랑의 장소라는 뜻이고, 보란업은 수컷 들개란 의미입니다. 그리고 하멜린 베이는 1801년 이 해안을 항해한 프랑스 탐험가의 이름에서 따왔다고 해요. 또한 프레벨리의 경우 크레타의 수도원 이름을 따왔는데요, 제2차 세계대전 때 현지 군인들의 피난처가 되었던 곳이죠. 이곳 여러 해변의 이름은 기원이 다르지만, 한 가지 공통점은 사람의 영혼을 살찌게 해준다는 것이죠. 해변을 즐기는 가장 좋은 방법은 직접 바다에 들어가는 것이죠. 배 타고 고래 구경하러 가보세요. 한때 멸종 위기에 내몰렸지만 지금은 매년 짝짓기를 위해 수천 마리의 고래가 돌아옵니다. 마가렛 리버는 수온이 따뜻해 새끼를 낳기에도 좋지요. 마가렛 리버 지역의 남쪽 끝에는 케이프 리우윈 등대가 있습니다. 바로 아래에서 인도양과 남빙양이 만나지요. 한 때 이곳은 등대지기들이 열심히 등대를 밝혔지만 지금은 계단으로 올라가서 멋진 전망을 즐기면 좋은 곳이 되었죠. 호주에서 가장 외진 야생의 자연이 현재 어떻게 많은 사람들이 찾는 인기 장소가 되었는지 느끼실 수 있을 거에요.
마가렛 리버는 모든 감각을 풍성하게 깨워주는 독특한 여행지에요. 여행 내내 미각, 촉각, 시각, 청각이 모두 즐거워집니다.

Climbing Huge Karri Trees I Western Australia
We climbed three different trees - Diamond Tree, Gloucester Tree and Dave Evan's Bicentennial Tree. These trees were formerly used as bushfire lookouts; they are not in use anymore, but fun to climb! They range in height from 40 something meters to over 60 meters.

4x4 Offroad Adventure | South-West WA
4wd adventure with good mates. We started the Adelaide Road Track then headed into D'Entrecasteaux National Park to explore some sand dunes and climb Callcup Hill. A few small recoveries but overall a pretty laid back weekend!
