The Tassie MTB Road Trip: Maria Island
Tasmania's mountain bike scene is completely off the charts, with riding right across the island and more on the way. We loaded up the camper and hit the road for a week of amazing, diverse trails. Along the way we rode in Launceston, Hollybank, Derby, Maria Island, Hobart, the West Coast and Penguin - and there's plenty more to explore!
Just an hour from Hobart, on the beautiful east coast, you'll find Maria Island. This island National Park is best explored by bike, so jump on the ferry from Triabunna and get ready for some spectacular scenery. There are no mountain bike specific trails here, it's just pure exploration, so pack some food and go see what you can find. We can easily imagine packing a tent, and heading off to discover some peace and quiet for a couple of days here!

A few hours stay on Maria Island. MTB is definitely the best way to explore it, especially with limited time.
Maria Island Walk - Tasmania Australia
Day One: Venture to Maria Island via the sparkling waters of Mercury Passage. You will enjoy a lunch overlooking the water before starting your hike.
Day Two: Today visit five fabulous beaches. Enjoy the sights of dolphins playing and birds soaring overhead. You will be able to end the day with a nice swim and a candlelit dinner.
Day Three: Travel North through giant Tasmanian blue gums with a choice to climb Mt. Maria or Bishop or Clerk. Enjoy your last night along the trail with fine wine and conversation.
